I was in an earthquake once. I was ice skating when it happened. The lights in the arena went out and the ground started shaking. It was scary. My mom was in my school's library when the quake hit. She said that books got flung off the shelves!

Well, are you sure that "under a table" is agood idea? Or in the corner? How about between for example the couch and the table? Or between the bed and the closet? So whatever falls from above will hit FIRST everything higher than the person lies? I was once watching a documentary with an experiment...being under the table is very dangerous, as the table breaks. Also, standing under the door of the Load bearing wall should be good, or? Thank you.
This video was interesting because I didn't know that had to pull up the car at a safe distance of all could fall down, I always thought that had to stop the car and stay there, other thing that I didn't know was that can not use the elevator.
2:35 oooh wow a (presumably) non-Japanese speaker who can actually say "tsunami" instead of saying "soonami". Also, my big question is for those of us living in packed urban centers, the idea of "get away from buildings" is not really feasible. Short of putting yourself in the middle of a street (which is dangerous) usually buildings aren't set back enough from the road for you to be able to put any significant distance between the building and you. I wish earthquake preparedness resources would get into this since they always leave it at "get away from buildings". Another gripe is for tornadoes, they often tell you to get in the basement, but in many parts of the world, basements aren't a thing. What then? I guess similar to earthquake (get away from windows, if you have a room that does not have any external walls, go in there, get under furniture, protect your head and neck). I also heard that bathrooms are a good bet since all the piping makes their walls a lot sturdier and they tend to be more internally located and have fewer windows.
A tornado was in my shcool but I didn't know and my my teacher said get under the table I said "what happened" also I had to get outside and there was wires except the grass and I sit on the grass on a circle
But earthquakes come so fast by the time I react they are usually over. I get a lot of magnitude 1-4s where I live, but by the time I get under my desk the earthquake already stopped.
