I also feel her voice demands heavier guitars because she doesn’t sound like she’s a part of the music so much as a voice on top of it. Again that might be because of the production. She’s a true artist and has a lot of experience (she has been in the business for 17 years and she is only 28...) you should definitely check out songs from her new album Plastic Hearts which is the number 1 rock album in the country. And you should also check out her live performances like everyone said in the comments!

I am a REALLY OLD school Metallica fan, as in back in the 1980's. As for Miley doing the vocals here on " Nothing else matters", it is great, and although another guy here on youtube had said that you can hear the "auto-tune", I really can't hear it, and that person had admitted that with Miley's voice "auto tune" is NOT needed. Although Miley had been a POP music star, her voice was NOT created by some computer, or made to "sound good" with help from a computer. She has "great pipes", I had seen her onstage singing a song that "Chris Cornell" had sung, so it had either been a Soundgarden song OR one of Chris's solo songs, and she had held her own, although CC sang it best. Her speaking voice is really HUSKY and low, so, I can totally see her singing this easily. Just watch the video for "Wrecking ball" and you will hear her voice singing in a higher octave, NOT really HIGH, BUT, not as low as she is singing "Nothing else matters". Anyway, she really can sing, NOT just pretend singing like many POP singers do.
She did great. I didn't hear autotune either but even if she did use it. its just another vocal effect. It doesn't make a bad singer a good one. everyone complaining about autotune should never use reverb, delay, compression or EQ vocals either

And she had the same husky sound to HER voice as Miley has. I bet Miley could totally cover a song by Fleetwood Mack perfectly, OR a solo Stevie Nicks song. Just saw a video with Howard Stern and he had Metallica, Miley Cyrus and Elton John on it. Elton John literally had James Hetfield near tears with his praise.
That is her 'new' voice. And by new, it's not really new, but obviously not like it was when she started singing. She over used her voice in her teens and early 20s and damaged it. Luckily is still a great singer, but she definitely has a deeper, raspier voice now.
Yeah totally , she always kinda have a low raspy voice. But i find that since 2015, her voice get deeper. And then bc of her reinke edema she got end 2019, and get operated for it her voice definitly changed. She said it tho on a podcast

I've been a Metallica fan as long as I can remember and I usually don't like re-makes of Metallica songs. Miley Cyrus does a FANTASTIC job. So does all the rest of the musicians performing here, but, Miley did a great job. She has redeemed herself a bit, in my eyes. 👍

I remember when this song came out and friends of mine were criticizing it suggesting Metallica was "going soft". I thought it was great and showed creative versatility. But I never did understand the hate they got when they started changing things up, even with songs that didn't personally resonate with me like some of the older songs did. Except to say that open-mindedness isn't as common as it maybe should be. I absolutely love this cover.

Real rock like the old days, I love it. I saw her on Joe Rogan and she's a really interesting woman, glad that her music matches her powerful personality.
Miley's lower register here, with it's rasp, is absolutely amazing and gives the song an entirely new feeling. She's fantasticly talented. Not sure why I worried about this version being good when it has Chad Smith of the RHCP on drums, Yo Yo Ma (if you know who he is, you know), and GODDAMN ELTON JOHN on piano. FANTASTIC stuff.

Okay... so i ended up looking for reactions, to see if im loosing my sanity... did i really end up listening, and LOVING, Miley Cyrus never the less doing metalica... what!!!! If someone told me this few years ago i would lough the lungs out.
But here i am, listening Miley Cyrus, and rocking with it... and cant wait her album to see if she does something of her own in this direction.

Just saw a video with Howard Stern and he had Metallica, Miley Cyrus and Elton John on it. Elton John literally had James Hetfield near tears with his praise.
Flawless, most epic female vocalist ever.
That is her 'new' voice. And by new, it's not really new, but obviously not like it was when she started singing. She over used her voice in her teens and early 20s and damaged it. Luckily is still a great singer, but she definitely has a deeper, raspier voice now.
Yeah totally , she always kinda have a low raspy voice. But i find that since 2015, her voice get deeper. And then bc of her reinke edema she got end 2019, and get operated for it her voice definitly changed. She said it tho on a podcast

I've been a Metallica fan as long as I can remember and I usually don't like re-makes of Metallica songs. Miley Cyrus does a FANTASTIC job. So does all the rest of the musicians performing here, but, Miley did a great job. She has redeemed herself a bit, in my eyes. 👍

I've been listen to this version through all the sever drama in my life. It's amazing It's Astral .the video is great I sent this song and video to my friends in Ukraine and Dubai.
I remember when this song came out and friends of mine were criticizing it suggesting Metallica was "going soft". I thought it was great and showed creative versatility. But I never did understand the hate they got when they started changing things up, even with songs that didn't personally resonate with me like some of the older songs did. Except to say that open-mindedness isn't as common as it maybe should be.

Miley's lower register here, with it's rasp, is absolutely amazing and gives the song an entirely new feeling. She's fantasticly talented. Not sure why I worried about this version being good when it has Chad Smith of the RHCP on drums, Yo Yo Ma (if you know who he is, you know), and GODDAMN ELTON JOHN on piano. FANTASTIC stuff.
