Imagine his worth is on his academics, like he drills himself into the ground with schedules bc he was abused if he didn’t get anything higher than an A?
That if he didn’t honor the ingenuim family by the get-go, the family will resort to extreme abuse to be the “perfect child?”
Not only does it make sense in the story, it addresses the unhealthy student work life, jobs, and expectations Japanese parents place on their kids-
