      No issues asides the usual ants and lizards. I used more paver sand to fill in the spaces around the gaps.

    Hello. First love the video, watched it like 20 times. I am looking to do the exact same but 3 times bigger. Following the same logic to use 12’ boards to minimize the cutting. How is the deck holding up after 8 months? You mention putting the boards together but not exactly show or talking about how you did it. And I believe in the beginning of the video there were stakes with your materials but you don’t mention using them. Did you use the same decking screws on the sides that you used for the top boards?

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Deck is in same shape as built. I added more screws after video was posted. Same screws around the whole deck. If u want use longer screws. The stakes were use to frame the grass removal area as well as pin the pallets in the space I wanted while I screws them together and added the 1st few planks.

    Hey bud thank you for sharing. Is what I was looking for. I just have a big question for you, do you think pallets will last long in winter time, specially in snowy states ? Thank you man!!!

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly do not know about cold climates but they sure as hell hold up through tropical weather. High heat and lots of rain with no issues. My rule of thumb is if you see pallets that sit outside of stores during this type of weather than they should be OK. Otherwise build it with pressure treated wood from scratch. Hope this helps.

    Leveling out my yard will be the issue 😣😣

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Move dirt around from other areas of the yard and use long pies of wood to drag along the area while damp to assist with leveling.

  • @JustJoyHowdy
    @JustJoyHowdy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And, two...question...what about removing wood from other pallets, using that instead of buying new wood. Tight budget. Is this feasible?

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is feasible but ALOT more work. Not all pallets are in great condition to break down and use making me have to get even more pallets. I considered that as well but didn't want to spend the time as I would rather finish sooner and spend that time difference with my family.

    Excellent video. Was really helpful as I try and build my own pallet deck! Hopefully you can address some questions I have. How did you attach the pallets to each other? Did you space the top boards at all or just placed them right next to each other ? I noticed you screwed the edge of the top boards through the side boards what is the benefit of doing it that way compared to screwing the top of edge boards (if this makes sense sorry if it doesn’t haha) ?

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same boards, just cut the 2 10ft sides down to keep it consistent.

  • @CarieSaad
    @CarieSaad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The base would be stronger if u alternated the directions of each pallet. Hopefully u screwed each pallet together too. Hopefully u left an 8th inch or 16th inch gap between the boards for drainage.

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alternating the pallets would've changed the measurements as they are not squared. All of the pallets are screwed together to form 1 big square. Yes a small space was left between each board not just for drainage but for expanding during different weather.

    Great job! Do you have any concerns of the pallets rotting quickly? I don’t think you’re treated in any way.

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! As I have seen pallets left outside for long periods of time fully exposed for long periods of time. Mine are wrapped around with pressure treated boards as well as a gazebo to help with shade. The pallets also sit on a weed barrier and sit on pavers so the pallets to not sit on the ground and only exposed between the cracks of the boards. With that being said I DO NOT have any concerns of the pallets rotting. At least for my particular build and setup.

    Fantastic tutorial !!!
    And I have to agree , warped boards can definitely throw a wrench into things ... Sometimes you can water pop the lumber to assist in unwarping it ... Simply saturate til soaked , then place 1-2 cinder blocks on the warped end with the level end secured . (SpongeBob voice) " Several Hours Later" the warp should of diminished to a less noticable state ...
    Either way y'all did a jaw dropping job on this patio !!! Can't wait to see more crafty creations from y'all !!!

    Wouldn’t the paver base shift underneath the pavers after finishing?

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I has been a full month now and the deck hasn't moved. after I placed the paver base, I put the pavers on and wiggled it to pad the base down with some pressure to get it firm and since the pallets are screwed together making it one big piece, its a good combined weight that evenly distributed. Check out the gazebo we put over it.

    The palets are not treated to be on the ground, so a few years from now your deck will be getting away..... Right???

    • @SunnyVi3wz
      @SunnyVi3wz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pallets don't touch the ground. All corners of each pallet sit on paver sand and a 12x12 concrete stepping stone. So the pallets should be just fine as they are mostly covered in pressure treated and waterproof stain deck planks.

      If you have the tools already, roughly $500. Most of it is the pressure treated lumber.
      Cost of tools will vary on if you have a drill, sander, saw, etc.
      If you a home owner, buy good tools as they will last you a looooong time
