Thank you for being one of the few people who actually knows what the fuck they are talking about. Not only did you show that you understand Ikemoto's art style, but you also broke down some reasons for why I like it, such as how the art makes it very easy to read.
There are many things I disagree with.Yes, more details does not mean good art. But the problem is that Ikemoto simply doesn't have the skills to draw an attractive enough panel with just a few lines. Whether he is painting buildings or characters, he only uses lines with varying thicknesses, and they are also very distorted, with obvious ink spots and pauses. This results in the image looking monotonous and depressing. Moreover, the focus of the picture is not prominent. For example, in the picture of Isshi looking down at Konoha from above, the outer edge line of Isshi is the same width as the building below, which results in a weak sense of layering in the picture and no sense of perspective. Ikemoto should have left a white line around the character, with the lines of the building below a little softer. If this kind of line is used to draw some abstract artistic style, it may be okay. But if his character pursues realism, he will look very distorted. His understanding of the human body is also very bad. His understanding of the human body is too rigid and he dare not make appropriate deformations. Many times the picture will be very distorted. For example, in the panel where Boruto stepped on Code's face, Boruto's waist and legs are very unnatural and it seems that he has no strength at all. This makes his depiction of the character's posture and expression very monotonous. No matter what the character's personality is, they always have the same movements and faces, which cannot reflect the differences in the character's personality. It is even worse in depicting strength. You can't feel the speed and strength of his panel just by looking at the painting. He completely relies on the size of the sound effect words to reflect the sense of attack. The use of speed lines is the worst I have ever seen. Most of the time, it is just used to fill the background, and there is no change in thickness and density, and there is almost no curve. The role is only to provide a little sense of speed. In addition, he doesn't use perspective metaphors, highlighting the focus of the picture, and strengthening the sense of light in the picture. Powerless movements, overly large onomatopoeia, huge and monotonous speed lines. When these three are combined, the degree of badness increases. As for Boruto's design, I don't want to judge whether his design is good or not. I can only say this. Ikemoto can't grasp his design. If you notice, Ikemoto likes to depict Boruto's back view when he fights. Because he designed Boruto's front view too complicated, in order to avoid trouble, he simply covered them all with a cloak, so he didn't have to draw complicated character movements. It's just asking for trouble. Finally, to refute the so-called clear picture, many people use this reason to defend Ikemoto's art. Yes, Ikemoto's picture is indeed clear, because he basically doesn't draw too many cross lines, and the picture looks naturally clear. But clear does not mean boring. If you use a high-definition camera to shoot a bunch of meaningless garbage, the clearer it is, the more disgusting it is. And I said that his skills make him very powerless in conveying the information of the picture. The characters in Ikemoto's writing are like a group of poorly acting actors performing on a simple stage. Without reading the dialogue, you can't feel the emotions of the characters and the atmosphere of the plot. Such pictures may be clear, but they are not attractive.
"Bad" boruto designs are simply kishimoto designs that logically only look good when kishimoto is the one drawing them, because it swits his artstyle Which is why designs created by ikemoto don't look ugly when he draws them because he created them himself That's why when kishimoto draw a character, it's good, but when ikemoto does, it's "bad"
