I am happy you have included this video. It seems appropriate to end the inhumanity experience Carol and others went through in a conciliatory manner. Nobody except God knows why Ted Is what he did. Judge Cowart I feel made a conciliatory statement towards Ted. If he made a statement of outrage, he ran the risk of the conclusion of an awful trial descending into ugly chaos filled with belligerence and disrespect. As a leader, the trial proceedings were Judge Cowarts responsibility. Whether we like Judge Cowarts comments or not, the final comments seems the lesser of two evils from a 3rd person perspective. An attempt to pacify potential outrage had to be made in an awful trial and repulsive defendant. My biggest thing to be happy about is that Carol and other survivors moved on to have very successful lives after being attacked. I am also happy the high road was taken by including this video of Richard Bundy. No grudge should be held against the family because of the awful, inhuman actions of Ted; Louise's son and Rich's brother.

It was his biological grandmother posing as his mother who claimed his innocence. I don’t think we heard from his biological mother who he thought was his sister.
Correct, most people don't understand this. The old white haired woman most people believe was TEDs mother was actually his grandmother. TEDs mother was actually his so called "sister"who gave birth to him out of wedlock at about the age of 17, the entire family from that point on raised Ted as her "little brother".
you know nothing about what a mother would feel about her son.... to me its normal that she saw her son as an angel..that's what a normal mother would do. makes sense ? NO... but it is what it is.
@@Allaloneisallweare No, a mother in her right mind would not see her child as an angel. That's a great way to create an entitled monster. Yes, I thought that too. He isn’t physically like his brother but he has kinda the same voice as Ted and lots of his mannerisms. That’s were the similarities end though. Rich comes across as a very decent, compassionate man, who is able to feel empathy for others. God bless you, Rich❤
He's like a human version of Ted. Spiritual polar opposites. Rich clearly has a gentle and kind nature unlike the creature his brother was. Sucks for him. I hope he's loved and looked after in his community.
I have a feeling that moment Ted sent him away abruptly was because Ted began having thoughts of harming him, or maybe even killing him as well... and the thoughts became overbearing. That's also why I think he had that moment of appearing horrified/disgusted at the airport. If my gut is right, then his murderous/violent tendencies were starting to transcend out of just women he found attractive...
@@daithiocinnsealach1982 In my opinion Serial Killer Calendar (murderbilia site), Netflix and every other true crime outlet that has made money from Rich's family should cut the dude a cheque. Richard was kept out of the public eye. Ted wasn't one to willingly share the spotlight or let his imaginary legacy be tarnished by even an inadvertant blemish on the few people that could pass for his loved ones.
You can tell this has crushed him and weighed on him his entire life. He’s literally been fighting this his whole life and he always will. Bless this man. Just bc you have a family member that is evil; does not mean that you are anything like them. At all.
It's not just the fear of him being like his brother. He feels far more shame of not being able to save his brother from the evil that consumed him. Also the victims and their families who will continue to suffer. Even his own family and people who were close to Bundy before they knew what he had done.

That was POWERFUL stuff. I think I would change my name if I was Ted Bundy's brother - I'm sure people, learning his last name, have jokingly asked "any relation to TED Bundy?," more than once.

Ted had no empathy or compassion. I have a narcissistic sister I have nothing to do with. How she intimidated me. I remember driving out to party at the reservoir in Appleton City, Mo. I asked her to stop so I could move a turtle crossing the road. She ran over it. Then laughed. I can't even wrap my head around what Ted did to Rich. I hope he finds peace and love 🕊️
That's weird. I accidentally ran over a possum when I was 16 going to get my driver's license in 2001. I still very bad about that. I always look out for the ducks dogs cats anything plus humans. It's best to stay far away from that sister of yours. I have one also Katie but, she has a six year old kid. Good for her.
It is. I can attest to that. Me, my sister and my mother all sound the same, from what people say, which leads to a lot of confusion in our family sometimes.

Thank you for uploading this. I never knew Bundy had a younger brother, and to find out how much Rich looked up to Ted and respected him breaks my heart. You can tell the man is still very much affected by the actions of his psychopathic older brother :/
I think this would be a half brother, because Ted's mom married Mr. Bundy after Ted was already here. Ted grew up thinking his mom was his sister. He was supposedly very upset when he found out the truth.
Richard is so clearly a good person. I mean, he genuinely has the decency that his brother only wore as a mask. It underscores the tragic weirdness of this kind of evil--with most sorts of extremely violent people, they're just the most extreme examples from a pool of generally awful relations and acquaintances. That someone like Richard could be so evidently pure-hearted, in such close proximity (of both nature and nurture) to someone as evil and cruel as his brother is... almost baffling. And that his brother could genuinely care for, even adore, him or any one human being, while being capable of such dehumanizing violence to others... boggles the mind.

Its a shame its affected him like this. It certainly wasnt HIS fault Ted did what he did. But then, I havent walked a mile in his shoes, so I cant know the depth of his pain.
This man’s pain is palpable. My heart aches for him. Ted Bundy essentially “killed” a huge part of his younger brother’s life. I hope he knows that there was absolutely NOTHING he could have done to change or prevent what his brother did!
I honestly wish Rich and his parents got more compassion from the public years back for what they went through with Ted's shocking betrayal of their trust and love.
Wow this is so shocking to watch. I feel so sorry for this man, and I will keep him , others of the Bundy family and the victims and their families in my prayers. So sad to see how many lives Ted ruined, how many people he betrayed.
This is one part of the documentary where I did find myself crying, because you can see the pain in his eyes as he speaks. Especially when he looks at the picture, 4:10 It's horrible how he isolates himself from the world due to what Ted Bundy did. He absolutely loved him as a kid, only to find out later what a monster he truly was. I hope he finds happiness one day.
When a very close relative is found to have committed crimes like this, it's very hard to understand and reconcile. You know the person in one light, and then are presented with another side of them you can't even comprehend. You begin to wonder if the person you knew was even real. Was it all an act? How could they do such things? Or are they capable of being nice and good, and also being a despicable monster? It's extremely confusing - you feel disbelief, anger, resentment and eventually a kind of hollow acceptance that doesn't bring any solace. You spend a lot of time thinking about the people they hurt and the things they've done - you kind of become shackled to it in a way.
Very well said my brother murder somebody. He left there naked dead body in the middle of nowhere. And you wonder if it's real or not because I remember changing his diaper as a baby
I absolutely agree. Everything gets thrown into question, even asking if there's something you could have done. Obviously no one could've stopped Bundy but I bet that thoughts crossed his mind on many occasion.
The most poisonous mushroom in the world, the death cap, has a closely related species, the Caesar amanita, which looks much the same but which is delicious and safe to eat. This kind of reminds me of that.
Loosing your brother/hero in a horrible way can break you. I can't imagine what kind of fight must be going on in his head everyday. Hope him and his cat can find some kind of peace.
Wow I've never seen his brother before and I honestly had forgotten Ted had siblings. Rich's facial expressions and speaking sounds JUST like Ted's. I hope he can have a good life.
Poor guy. He should have changed his name and relocated. Manson has a son that is hidden somewhere. Hitler had family that changed their names sand moved. That could have been what he needed for a normal life.
He needs to get professional help. He needs to find purpose to live be it as support for other people in a similar situation or run a cat shelter. Anything other than wasting anymore of his life on that man. I saw him supporting his mother outside court when ted was first found guilty and he was a tower of strength for her for such a young man. He has it in him. Don't let that man claim you as another victim is what I'd tell him. He could get help and support. I hope he's OK.
I saw this documentary. The hurt the younger brother and the fiancé suffer is just so palpable. I think the brother now not being around people is understandable. How do you trust anyone after what one of the people you trusted most does what Ted did. How do you trust yourself to read anyone again? It’s just so sad. We know that nobody could know. But it’s hardest to forgive yourself.

It makes me feel bad 4 Rich. Apparently his life has been greatly affected by his "brother's" choices, that he hasn't been able 2 enjoy his own life. My heart goes out 2 him.
Same. His guilt is palpable. Ted’s crimes were not his fault.
I know what you mean I got an older brother to that I used to look up to and he disappointing me I love him and wonder what it’s like to have a relative as a serial killer thinking the whole world is going to judge you think it’s partly your fault that whoever it was really too turned out that way your names are always tarnished he seems like a good guy and I feel for him

Glad he isn’t delusional as his mother was, who insisted Ted was innocent till her death even after hearing Teds confessions himself.
denial is a strong defense mechanism

Yes he does. She sounds just like him.
Yes, I thought that too. He isn’t physically like his brother but he has kinda the same voice as Ted and lots of his mannerisms. That’s were the similarities end though. Rich comes across as a very decent, compassionate man, who is able to feel empathy for others. God bless you, Rich❤

That he does. He’s a lot like Ted, in the way he speaks, moves, his mannerisms.
That little gigglesound and smile and even the breathing around 0:55-0.60 is strikingly similar.
He's like a human version of Ted. Spiritual polar opposites. Rich clearly has a gentle and kind nature unlike the creature his brother was. Sucks for him. I hope he's loved and looked after in his community.
No he's not. He lives in a trailer with his cat, rejected by society.

I have no doubt Rich could make good money with his music, the issue being of course dudes would want him in their band solely because of who he is, that or any music he makes is unfairly rejected for the same reason. It's not just the fear of him being like his brother. He feels far more shame of not being able to save his brother from the evil that consumed him. Also the victims and their families who will continue to suffer. Even his own family and people who were close to Bundy before they knew what he had done.

That someone like Richard could be so evidently pure-hearted, in such close proximity (of both nature and nurture) to someone as evil and cruel as his brother is... almost baffling.
Wow, what a chilling and powerful interview. I feel for his brother, that betrayal crushed him and broke him. I see it in his eyes.
I agree wholeheartedly. I feel nothing but empathy for Richard, as well as his mother Louise. A living nightmare forced upon them by sheer evil.
@asmith3601 Thank you for explaining. It makes sense why he feels so terrible.

Good call, he should do something such as help others in need. Some actors do this to keep themselves grounded.
ye - exactly. He is not his brother. He shouldn't be carrying the shame and depression that was meant for Ted. I hope he somehow finds some peace.
He should not blame himself He's not accountable for his brother He's a victim himself
