Mr. Tecmath, Because of you my failing math grade more than doubled and I am literally #1 in my class and in my group. I finally passed an important test and can move forward to teaching in high school and college. Because of you. Thank you.
Thanks for this video. In first problem, alternative is just divide 4.50 by 6 dollars gives 0.75 x 25 AUD is $18.75. That means for every 1 AU dollar = 0.75 USD (75 cents)
this channel really is helping me I am homeschooled and Took a huge break to move and stuff and getti bff back into school I feel stupid and don't know anything watching these videos i hope to catch up with my grade
That was a neat trick and well explained. I only suggest explaining the "why this works" a little better. It can be easy to learn a trick for a test, but if you learn why it works it can become more ingrained in memory.
+Spencer Beale Thanks. Great suggestion...it would have made it better. Thanks for reminding me...it is essential in maths we look at the why rather than just dumping a formula on people. I have been trying to do this more in videos. Keep on my case if I slip up again! Thanks.
I can explain this to you in language terms: 4 boys and 5 girls = 9 children --------> So, 4 boys out of 9 children (divide) = 0.44 or 44%, this is the % of boys out of the 100% children (0.44 is your golden number) which means for any number of children, the amount of boy will always be 44% of that. so just use the 0.44 to multiply to any amount of children and you get the amount of boys in it. I did the computation backwards, because its easier to explain. i divided first before I multiplied. ALSO, IS THAT YOU WITH NDGT?
Thank you for this video just went back to college and now I have to teach myself because I havent done any maths like this in years seeing as ratios are always done for you outside of education
I wish he was my teacher years ago. He explains everything really well. Now I'm older, I'm really struggling to get to grips with L2 maths. I've got a resit today.
In question 3. The diagonal has changed places from the last 2 questions. (It was placed in the top right and in no. 3 it's in the lower right. Is that because units that are the same should be placed next to each other?
If you are referring to the 160km in 3 hours question, I assume the only reason he has put it in the bottom right is because it is a time and he is keeping it uniform he has the distance on the top and the time at the bottom. In the previous question he kept the Australian dollar on the same line too
great video, love your videos. Can you please explain how to really make this work as sometime u use parallel box as x and other times u use the box below as x. How to figure out where x goes? -- I call empty box as x for my understanding
This is awesome. I will use this for future references. Cab you please explain why this method works in the comment section and perhaps pin it to the top?

This is 2 years late but he's keeping the same units of measurement on the same line as mixing them up would screw up the calculations and make it harder to understand.
The math, I’m confused on second practice question. If I make my box and top is my percentage, how do I get a 100 for the bottom and how to I get 34 for the bottom as well? I understand box method for Km and time (keep Km on top and time on bottom of the box) how does this work for though on 85% and 34 questions?
cement sand and gravel are mixed to a proportion of 1:3:6 for a particular batch of concrete. how many cubic metres of each should be used to mix 125 cubic metres of concrete? Please reply
great video. I love this method and have used it for years for loads of topics so really nice to see it being used elsewhere. where did you stumble over it?
Wow, I WISH this was how I was taught in school. No wonder I was confused, they never explained how to come up with the answer. I was always like a deer in the headlights.
basically this is putting an algebraic formula in a box which you then convert back to the algebraic to solve.. not sure I see the advantage...mind you, proportionality equations are often presented in box or graph form. But people do learn in different ways.
what about this Gavin hsa 56coins Of the coins,2/8 are nickles 3/8 are dimes and the rest are quaters .What is the ratio of Gavin nickles to dime to quaters?
How do you know what numbers go in each box? I find this reason, is why the box method is so confusing. I’ve watched like 4 videos explaining how to do it. And just become more confused and frustrated.

Good job 👏👏
I never skip any ads in the videos of this channel and that is how I show my gratitude
That is some dedication 🤣

I so struggled with math in school. Wish I had known all these great solutions to finding the correct answers then!

tecmath what software do you use

Still awaiting an explanation of the how and why of using box method.
That is obvious loser

Excellent, thank you Josh. My daughter has learnt a lot and is now fully confident in using your box method.
I am glad someone still teaching this method vs the current way of teaching these formulas!
I wish he was my teacher years ago. He explains everything really well. Now I'm older, I'm really struggling to get to grips with L2 maths. I've got a resit today.
You have tought me in 5 mins what has literally taken me a year to figure out on my own. Thank you kind Sir! 😆
Amazing! Thank you so much. I have learnt so much more then I did in school. You’re a legend! Please keep posting more of your videos.
Absolutely fantastic... Can't wait till you hit a million subscribers......I could even tell you how much more you need... Thanks to your help....
I'm studying for CETs and I'm pretty sure it's going to include a lot of problems like these. THIS VIDEO IS GOING TO HELP A LOT. 👏❤❤❤
I love these problems. Learning to think logically is so enjoyable. Thanks again for posting. I really appreciate your site.
Love this method and have been using it all my life. Great explanation
Mate, thank you very much for all this fantastic work. I really appreciate it. You're videos are really helpful.
Thank you so much for these videos, you make maths simple and enjoyable. Please keep making these.

Charlie Don't Surf I'm trying to figure out the exact same thing. He's a great teacher but just forgot to explain why for some reason
If you are referring to the 160km in 3 hours question, I assume the only reason he has put it in the bottom right is because it is a time and he is keeping it uniform he has the distance on the top and the time at the bottom. That made so much more sense than all of the bs algebra nonsense! Thank you! I get it now!
this would have made life easier.thank you for sharing this sir.😍😍😍😍
we also can consider 3hours = 4 x 45 mn, so for 45 mn, directly 160:4= 40 km
Wish you uplouded this last month, whould have been usefull for the test D:

You are the best!! Make more video please :D
Thank you so much! really helped me
thank you this really helped me out :)
So easy to do. Thanks
How do you know you’re setting up the box method right ?
Ana Garcia same unit should be in the same row and not in colum
I like this video it has helped me. thank you :). also...are you daddy pig from the peppa pig show on nick junior?
does anyone know why he changed the position of the number into the lower right box in question 3?? i need an answer asap please
Because it depends where you put the numbers. Just remember that the unknown ratio is ALWAYS on the right
@@asiandude1587 what about the percentage q? 85 percent on the same row as 34 questions?
Thank you its very helpful!
It was a really good good help thx u

I don't even know if my math teacher's gonna accept this method 😂🤣 anyways thanks
I'm watching it in 2020 😂
Haha, watching something at a specific time is funny.
there is nothing to laugh about your right
I should have known this box long time ago.
How do you know what values to place across from each other and under one another?

Can you do a video on making x the subject?
Thank You

dude you gotta do this again it didn't make any since I always get questions like this and I can't use a calculator

But why does this work? What is the trick behind it? I want to know this so to use it in every day life and not just a formula.
where were you when i was at school!! :D
What makes this hard is how to know where to place the values
Nobody shows the division work/solution! How do you just automatically come up with the answer when all you have left is division ??
I love you
I liked some of the comments 😂 I put tumbs you for some of you gies
It is easier to handle the car problem by making quarters, 3/12 or 1/4 of 160km makes 40 km
what is a patreon
All I need to know is what quadrant to enter my data or else I'll end up solving it four ways and choosing the "most right" looking answer.
Same as cross multiplying fractions
A / B = C / X
= ( C × B ) ÷ A = X
