And second uncle was in Mighty 8th Army Air Force a tailgunner with the 394th Bombing Group. flying in B-17s out of England over Germany. My two late uncles: Julian and Larry Wishnak

I asked my grandfather how many Germans he killed as a sniper he responded slowly and steadily "you don't really count the number, so much as you remember there faces and it will stick with me until I pass" he died 2 years ago in July I believe and I'm going to have to remember that till my end.
Had to immediately return here today, when I learned that PFC Bradford Freeman (USA-Ret), the least living member of the famed ‘Band of Brothers’ had passed away at age 97. We will never see the like of them again. Rest well, sir. And thank you all. 🫡🇺🇸

I had two relatives that fought in World War 2, the first was part of the No.47 Royal Marine Commandos and was part of the first wave on Gold Beach and later fought in the Battle of the Scheldt. The other was a glider pilot who was trained in Canada and was involved in Operation Varsity where he was captured by members of the 7th Parachute Division, these men let him go when they ran out of food and couldn't retreat anymore.

My one great grandfather on my mothers side went MIA over Europe after his bomber was hit by flak, his entire crew bailed out as he steered the bomber out of the formation. He was the only crew member to not survive the war.....

I know this will be just my opinion but, as much as I love the lovely Jenkins lady, the lyrics of this song are sacrificed to the 'rounded-up' operatic voice sound. Opera singers do not sing well out of their own comfort zone. The words (when found and read are perfect) but the diction has ironed them out. I find the 'Leaves must fall' words much clearer. Lovely lady, incredible song and tribute just the wrong artist.
