Fun fact is that India didn't even cede Katchatheevu. Historically, it was used by fishermen of both India & SL and both the countries claimed sovereignty over the island. In 1974, when both the countries agreed to draw an international maritime boundary between them it was found that most of the island was falling on the Srilankan side. So as a gesture of goodwill, India agreed to move the line bit towards our side and recognised SL's sovereignty over the island. P.S. - Whoever wants to know more, there is an interesting interview of a former Foreign Secretary by Karan Thapar on 'The Wire' YT channel.
They are talking about kacchadeevu island ,why can't they talk about land boundary agreement (2015 ) with Bangladesh where India gave 111 enclaves in exchange of 51 . The present government is hypocrite.
