Which Catfish Bait is Better?

- In this fishing video I am fishing for catfish in the winter using two different catfish baits. I am using cut bait for catfish bait, and I am using chicken for catfish bait. Both catfish baits will catch catfish, but I want to see if one bait out performs another as water temperatures start to fall in early winter. A side by side test is a good way to see what is the best catfishing bait in the area you are fishing. Using chicken for catfishing bait is an old technique that works in many places.

Winter is usually quality over quantity. Very healthy fish. Enjoyed the video as always. CHICKEN, never leave home without it. Lol
Good stuff as usual! I usually have cut perch, shad and chicken out most all times. Some days it’s shad, some days it perch, other days chicken is best. I’m a big believer on having chicken out where I fish as there are so many freshwater mussels in the water. I also caught my PB in November on chicken (77lbs). Merry Christmas!
77 pounds is one heck of a fish!
Yesterday, I went out on the James River and caught 9 blues. Seven 2-6 lbs on chicken and two 20 lbs on cut bait. Unfortunately, I also lost one of my poles.
Round here lately its been toss up for chicken thigh and home made boilies for catfish. So even though i throw 2 rods for catfish with chicken and 2 for carp catfish will hit on all 4.
That was fun, I always do better with fresh cut bait. I suck trying to get the cats to take a bite of chicken. 👍

I caught 16 blue and channel cats, off my dock, in 40 minutes. Minnows were the fare.

Have you tried head on fresh shrimp? Not the stinking 3 day old stuff, I mean fresh as you can get. I was reading on Catfish1 a guy said he tore up some big blues on shrimp in January-February one year

I am new to the Santee rig world. How is drifting with live bream? In Alabama, you can use bream for bait as long as it is caught on a hook.
