That’s a quality looking station, I’ve held onto all the stuff that I’ve burnt up since being in the hobby and my mates give me their broken electronics as well, so I’ve got quite a lot of things that I can salvage parts from.
This type of work really interests me.

thank you @dronemesh I had NO idea board pre-heaters were a thing, I have a GREAT soldering and Hot Air system.. and just now researched an SMD board pre-heater.. at $70 i'm still thinking about it as i9 don't do as much rework and salvage as you, I rely on my free-time and chip-qwik.. but thanks, "I learned something today"

Great video!I just wish that preheater would come separately. But I also want to have a preheater that was based on convection and not infrared. Infrared tend to heat up black parts more than anything else. In this case the black package of the components on the bottom side of the board will be hotter than the pcb, unless the pcb is black. So for example reflow ovens for soldering are usually designed to use as little infrared radiation as possible and as much convection as possible.

Lots of preheaters available separately... Was gonna grab this one myself esp being a newborn but not for use in the u.s.

5v regulators... I'm kidding... I'm sure you have a few videos lined up. I'm glad that you are getting use out of those components! More than I would have. And you can help more people than I can. Thanks again bro!

just my thought, it is faster to use just the hot air gun than using the pre-heater. Setting up and waiting for the pre-heater to fire up is time consuming, esp when you're just unsoldering a tiny board which I think has a very smell thermal mass. Just the heat gun alone would do the trick.
Tip: Try using the hot air gun as your pre-heater by aiming 3-4inches in distance at the surrounding part that you want to solder / unsolder for a few seconds,
And then aim the nozzle close to the part that you're going to unsolder/solder.
Also, get a Vacuum Suction Pen / IC Component Picker
    Good review btw :) -subscribed!

Fudge yea been waiting for this... Been thinking of investing in a station and was waiting to see what your current recommendation would be..
FYI link to product in this video and the post from the other day do not work.

@@DroneMesh There is only one voltage available at the link(220v). If you want to see impressive technique at rework, check out Louis Rossmann. You may find his TH-cam layout interesting as well.

@@shamous180 I have been looking at the 3 in 1 rework stations and when I find a good price, it is usually 220 only. I think that it would be great to have a power supply there to power things up.

Will going in with 500 to 550 degrees celcius to remove newer models Iphone cpu shield remove the shield quicker than using a lower temperature without damage?

Nice review. Been looking at this rework station and a bunch of others. Glad to see you got yourself some flux. Can't believe how cheap this rework station is. When I was working in the repair industry 15 years ago something like that was a few grand, its crazy how cheap all these things have become.
