Thank you very much for uploading this mini series, I think Francis Durbridge was a genius, his plots are so captivating. I have already watched the Italian TV productions based on Durbridge 's works starring old famous Italian actors such as Alberto Lupo , Rossano Brazzi and Aroldo Tieri ( for those who might be interested in knowing). I consider these black and white TV productions as rare masterpieces. Hugs from Italy ❤
I agree with you, Gino Cervi was a perfect Maigret , in my opinion no actor compares to his interpretation. But Gino Cervi belongs to the Golden Age of the great Italian TV productions of the 1970s.
You are continually spoiling us! 😁 Edward Brayshaw definitely had movie star quality. He was great in Rentaghost playing it completely serious against the delightfully batty Ann Emery
Ive been listening to Paul Temple over and over for years - love the world he created. I never knew there were TV shows from his other stories till this morning ! Fantastic new videos to watch and look out for.
With Jennifer Daniel. This country had more than its fair share of attractive actresses in the 1960s. Gerry Harper always did a good 'short sharp delivery' when he was angry. Mucho thankings for posting this. You're doing sterling work.
Another Francis Durbridge classic. Francs was very popular in Germany, where his thrillers were known as Straßenfeger: "street clearers" - that is, the streets would be empty as viewers stayed at home to watch each instalment.
Just thinking the same thing. The man was a genius at his craft. Keeps you constantly guessing what the hell is going on....then eventually all is revealed.
Just watched episode 1 of Harry Brent, going to watch episode 2 now, what a brilliant TV series, was a bit before my time, I was only 7 when this was made, plus we didn't have a TV😢 TV was an alien concept, until my dad brought home a small black & white TV that had been donated by my grandparents, they had bought one the first colour TV's I think that would be around 1968🤔 I always thought my grandparents were rich, they had a colour TV & a new Morris Minor Traveller, 😁👍
i was thinking how come i never watched this in 65 as my parents would surely have watched it, i then read that it was broadcast on bbc 2, we didnt have that as dad said we had too much telly with two channels. my mate had his telly converted and i would have to trek over to his house to watch match of the day and disco 2, that was the foe runner of the old grey whistle test. great tv this.
Nice. I love these old programmes, so much nostalgia. I'd love to see some Crane episodes but maybe they have been lost. I used to like Vendetta, but that's certainly been lost, unfortunately. The Ghost Squad, another of my favourites, it still around, thank goodness.

@ClassicBritishTelly Thanks so much. I actually realised as soon as I posted the comment that the next episode was available. All wonderful stuff and thanks for posting this great little drama. 😀👍🏻
Must admit I can’t remember this one and I always liked anything by Francis Durbridge. The minute I heard him I recognised Brian Wilde’s voice from Last Of The Summer Wine.
A A Englander one of the best TV film camera men and Alan Bromley directing, both worked on Dr Who, but Bromley was a bit out of his comfort zone with that show. Does a good job here.
@TheRobynbrown So right! And at 1:22, it takes off sounding and maneuvering like a manual going through gears. Of course he could have been steering with his knee, but rather difficult doing that sharp turn!
Talking of Francis Durbridge, can never find any episodes of the English version of the World OfvTim Fraser which starred Jack Hedley. Still remember as an 11 year old waiting with anticipation the next episode as each one ended with a cliffhanger.
Absolutely loved it I watch for the old cars and all the beautiful interior styles of the homes. I love this stuff.
You really do find some "Gems" that have been long forgotten
Who the hell needs a tv licence when we have gems like this to watch on utube
LOL
If you have a VPN, use a U.S. IP address and then search for movies that are "free with ads".
TH-cam has free with ads movies if you get yourself a U.S. IP address.

Are the Italian shows available with English subtitles? 🍝🍝🍝
I don't think so, really sorry
@@alessandrapestrin9130 Not your fault! Plenty of English series to watch anyway... 😸😸😸

I missed this when it was once available on import DVD. Chuffed to bits to get to see it at last. All Durbridge stories are gripping. Thanks!
Gerald Harper is still with us, now aged 93. Bernard Brown is also still alive. £55 in 1965 is worth about £1,300 today. Can’t wait for Episode 2!
BR was still British Railways in 1965. Thatcher Britain still ways off in the future.
I wonder if we are able to write to him - so he knows he’s not forgotten ?
@@shelbynamels7948only 7 years from thatcher the milk snatcher!

Adam Adamant.
TV violence without blood...
I got Gerald Harper's autograph in the 60's as a kid......
Love this stuff....😊
Another I must have missed. Nice to see these classics.

Excellent!!!! Waiting for Episode 2!

Thank you so much!! Loving watching the shows I grew up with!!
Many thanks, lovely archive stuff!
Great thanks for another delightful Durbridge upload. 💞
Thanks for uploading this, it was most exciting and we do look forward to the next episode if you have it!
Was Brian Wilde ever a child? It's so weird to see such an amazing show with some great actors near their beginnings. Brilliant stuff, thankyou!
Excellent. Look forward to watching this.
Excellent stuff! And five more episodes in the pipe-line. Very enjoyable, thank you.

Marylebone Station at the beginning. I didn't know it was once possible to drive straight onto the concourse.

Started watching the third episode 🎉went to your main page & now starting again with this episode. 🇦🇺😊💛💚
Great stuff, a real treat! 🙂🙂🙂
Great plotting. Interesting framing of the scenes, a lot of closeups.
Bit before my time, and we didn't get a tele until 1968 . It holds up well , a good story and cast ,plus the old cars etc /
What a hoot ! Loving it from Lebanon (Kansas)
Amazed that nobody's mentioned Harold Meaker yet!
I need to contact him sometime because my mansion house needs haunting.
I've just mentioned Rentaghost 😂
as a good Esher resident, nice to see this
I was wondering where it where the location shots were taken. I guessed it was somewhere around the stockbroker belt, when somebody mentioned Byfleet.
thank you

Great actors Great story
I’ve just finished watching Bat out of Hell, and had to look for my next fix of brilliant telly.
Ah, young Barraclough at 2:30! Brian Wilde
Thank you for a great series. Any chance of seeing Tim Fraser again. Norwegian tv show that series in the 60s.😊
I was born in 1959 but never heard of this series ?
THIS IS WELL WRITTEN........ring ring...wheres the rest of them?
As mentioned in the video description they will all be uploaded this week...
Patience, he'll get to it. Just say ''thanks''.
Mr Crispian needs to grow up and learn some manners.
Brilliant!
Well, I’m hooked. When is the next episode?
This is pretty good.
How nice watching this Durbridge in original lanuage. I only know the German Version. ❤
a new house in 1965 cost £4,000 ... in point of fact

First time I've seen this. Looks good. I don't recognise some of the cars.
Doubt that you could drive a '60's car with one hand 🙄
yes I was thing that - how could he change gears and signal out the window when turning?
No power steering?

Mr.Tolly, who is sitting at the bar I believe is foggy from "last of the summer wine"played by Brian Wilde.
Mr Barraclough from Porridge, top man.

Reminds me of the early episodes of The Avengers (with Mrs. Gale).

why cannot I recognise the rail station at the opening ?
Programmes are so unremittingly bleak and deprseeing nowadays - compared to this.
How kool was that😎
0.21 guy holding/reading paper on train (right at the start) is holding/reading paper upside down???
4:42 wasn't expecting THAT line lol
Can someone tell me when these were made?
Long, long lost London.
Good 😊
Ep 2 hasn't come out yet. It took a long, long time.
It's Foggy from Last of the Summer Wine!
