So I’ve read and studied Rise of Superman (I think that’s what it was called) years ago. I’m a poker player and it’s very pertinent to what I do. I’m not sure who this interviewer is yet, but he knows his stuff, and now I’m subscribed.

As much as Im obsessed w/ videos of Harry freestyling, conversations like this might be even better becuz you can learn about the man and not just the artist. Was rele interesting hearing about his mentality when rapping. Harry shuld do more of these
The host also did a rele good job explaining flow with the anxious vs boredom chart. Will def tune in to hear other episodes!

It's awesome listening to this in August of 2022 a few weeks before Harry begins the European leg of his 2022 Energy Exchange tour...the first ever fully improvised freestyle rap tour in history, and being able to listen to him basically speak not only this into existence on here, but him wanting to make classic moments and have an impact on the culture is crazy when you know what he's been able to accomplish since this podcast was recorded and his exponential growth since covid made him have to pivot a bit which birthed the Omegle Bars series. Covid also simultaneously contributed to a rise of new reaction based youtube channels that needed interesting fresh content to react to and all Harry had to do was be the greatest off top freestyle rapper ever and magic happened. I think he's around 2.4 million subscribers on TH-cam at this point and with his more recent explosion of followers on Tik Tok the sky is the limit. It was cool randomly stumbling on this great podcast episode. Great job

This was so eye opening 😳. The questions were all on point and asked exactly how most would want to elicit the response of Harry’s intelligently prepared answers. The whole interview was seedless along with the freestyle. Definitely #goals...awesome to get a glimpse into his psyche when he freestyles. As he mentioned the biggest thing is shutting off your own mind and harness your originality is key instead of ever comparing. Just achieve what feels the most exciting and you should achieve that FLOW STATE OF MIND!! I’ll tune in more now thanks!!

Flow Experience Explained in 2 minutes
It has recently been demonstrated (link below) that reward uncertainty or novelty can enhance the sensory experience of high value reward. In other words, popcorn actually tastes better when we are watching exciting movies, and tastes worse when we are watching paint dry. This is due to what are called dopamine-opioid interactions, or the fact that dopamine activity (elicited by positive novel events, and responsible for a state of arousal, but not pleasure) interacts with our pleasures (as reflected by opioid release), and can actually stimulate opioid activity, which is reflected in self-reports of greater pleasure.
Opioid release occurs when we are consuming food and drink, but it also occurs when our musculature is in a state of inactivity or rest, which is why relaxation feels good. Thus it follows that any behaviors which have a lot of positive reward uncertainty (creating art, climbing mountains, etc.) will stimulate naturally occurring opioid activity in concurrent resting states, with subsequent self-reports of high arousal and pleasure, which precisely describes all flow experiences. In other words, flow is simply opioid-dopamine interactions due to pursuing positive novel events during a state of rest. Furthermore, as dopamine release scales with the salience of the activity, so will the resulting flow experience. We also see this for flow experiences, where the pleasure and arousal scales with the importance of the task. Thus a rock climber who is risking his life would have a more intense experience than if he were attached to a tether that would break his fall.
A longer explanation from affective neuroscience is provided on pp. 80-85 in the open-source book on the neuro-psychology of rest linked below, as well as a simple procedure on pp. 48-50 to induce and sustain the positive affect characteristic of flow. The book is based on the work of the distinguished affective neuroscientist Kent Berridge, who was kind to review for accuracy and endorse the work.

Amazing. Totally relate to Harry about not like team sport etc. I’m in to natural bodybuilding. And I always liked tennis and golf when I was a kid for those reasons. Also love that he touches on social awareness, another reason why I probably love him, haha, I can recognise his social matrix neo skills of seeing through the matrix of social un-freedom, and basically just yeah, eq skills. And also everything about flow state that was covered. Love it. 🔥 subscribed to podcast channel too.
