One of the best and most underrated shows ever on BBC. I've watched the entire series twice over the past 10 years, and as an American I can honestly say I can now almost understand Scottish accents!
My Geordie grandparents (go Magpies) raised me in the states and I got to see the classics of British TV but when I discovered this series and showed them they'd wished they'd seen it earlier.
It's something I was never a fan off. Always felt like it was trying to copy chewing the fat. Then turns out the wee fat 1 was also a writer on that. After chewing the fat and still game our expectations were very high like happy Holliday's failed terribly as did deer green place. But now I can see how great they are. Always recommend deer green place I just love it. Worth a watch
the brits are sittin' down there with their paltry attempts at american accents while the scots are up there doing perfect next level impressions of americans doing bad scottish accents X) 6:18

Look at his picture or some of the gags. His face maybe sometimes looks bit round, but it is a matter of make-up. He and Iain Connell did really good job. If You know what is pure nonsens? It's a type of jokes, where nonsens is the main theme. Nothing is more funny, then absurd.
I'm thankful to the all knowing algorithm for suggesting the voice activated elevator for me. I jst discovered this show and I'm loving it. As an American it's gonna take some effort to hang with the accents and slang but this show is brilliant. I'll be googling a lot of Scottish slang during my binge watch the next couple days......
Would highly recommend still game, it's by far the best TV show, and also dear green place. There are also of the same ppl involved in all those shows. But still game wins by a long way. Enjoy
Burnistoun plus Still Game several years ago, with non-auto subtitles are literally how I, an American, became fluent in patter. The fact I can listen to this without even looking at it and understand what is being said is a superpower very few Americans have. I look forward to when I can use it properly. Also, I promise I can do an accent at least 10% better than the Americans in the "bo'l a ginga" bit. A least te' pi'cent bi'er, son. Aye.

The Burnistoun radio sketch has a problem. If they were live, the lights on the mixing console would have been registering noise, and you'd see them jumping from green up the scale to yellow into red etc. Awesome sketch though! " and there we go " ...

Watching this for the first time and now I understand why the BBC keeps sending me crap sketches on my Facebook feed that consist entirely of people just talking like neds. The people who write such drivel (who are obviously inspired by this) don't seem to understand that this show actually has good writing and performances under the Scottish veneer.

You should try dear green place to start with it's easier to understand then and or still game which is prob the best show ever from Scotland it's comedy gold,.
what a shame as you wond understand the jokes either way then. PPl say they understand the accent but they know the words not the joke. we have a very dif sense of humour. This is 1 of the easier 1ns aswell.
