- THE MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI: ELECTRONIC FIELD TRIP is a collaboration between WYES-TV, New Orleans PBS member station, and the Center for Global Environmental Education at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
WYES is pleased to report that nearly 35,000 students from across the country joined us for the live event held at The Meraux Foundation’s Docville Farm in St. Bernard Parish which is located southeast of New Orleans in Louisiana. Viewers were taken on a 2,000-mile journey from the headwaters at Lake Itasca in Minnesota to the city of New Orleans and the swamps of south Louisiana as the river flows to the Gulf of Mexico.
Special thanks to host Tom Gregory and special guest Jonathan Foret, the director of the South Louisiana Wetlands Discover Center.

The comment by the first presenter that our bodies are 67% water and therefore in Minneapolis since they drink water from the Mississippi the girls are 67% Mississippi is just brilliant
it may be the third-largest watershed, but its the first is usefulness and development
I would guess that the Amazon and the Congo are first and second respectively in front of the Mississippi.

Dead zone and fertilizer, how about how much run off from roads? Are or we just gonna concentrate on farmers? I guess they’re an easy target. (Roads do leach oil)

Glad nobody being interviewed bit the global warming climate change bait
The Mississippi reaches from Montana to Tennessee and Pennsylvania and is the only reason the United States exists. South America has the Amazon and Africa has the Nile but they both go into inhospitable lands. The Danube is for Europe like the Mississippi as a passage for commerce and culture. If you passed grade 8 don't bother watching.
