    Jig number 4 is genius!
    I once made a jig to cut the bottom off a new door. The front of the cut was perfect. A nasty shock when I looked at the other side - The bottom of the cut was all over the place as the blade flexed back and forward so much - it scrapped the door.
    Supporting the blade with bearings to keep the blade vertical is an excellent idea.

    • @chrisdeli7547
      @chrisdeli7547 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      put another sheet of wood under what you want to cut firmly so it "absorbs" the splinders and protect your edge

    • @SAHBfan
      @SAHBfan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chrisdeli7547 - It my case it wasn't splinters.... the door was about 1 1/2 thick. The blade was flexing about and following the grain, so whilst it was nice and straight on top - where my saw was following the jig and I could see it cutting a nice straight line - underneath the blade was wandering side to side by well over 1/4 inch each way in some places, making the door scrap, as cutting off enough to leave the bottom straight would have left a big gap under the door :-o The amount a blade can flex side to side in a jig saw is quite scary!

    • @chrisdeli7547
      @chrisdeli7547 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SAHBfan if it is real wood and not mdf or something "uniform" you need thick and wide blade otherwise.... you know

    i dont have space for a table sadly
    thats why the jig you made is great idea for me because it kinda works as a portable table ...
    1 issue tho
    imagine if you wanted to cut something longer (wider) than this, then the left side of the jig will be problem, can you make it so it is easily rotated to other side ?

    I like the zero clearance base and the under the board stabilization jigs but i have one question. If your cutting a circle, why do you have to change the focus of the arc halfway through the circle?

    • @armanzd.i.y.511

      The first cut is a way to access to the smaller circle..without it you need to make a hole to cut the smaller circle..clever idea.

    Setting the chamfer jig to cut the under side rather than to top side will mean that all your marking out and screw holes will be on the bottom. The top will have no blemishes what so ever. Now going out to make your jigs, thank you.

    Re Jig 4, is there a reason you have the bearings at the full extent of the blade. I mean it looks like its designed to cut 4 inch deep timber. Can you have the depth set to say 30mm so that it is suitable for most sheet material. It would make the bearings sit well up the blade length. Would that still work ?
