I just want to say. I binge watched the whole drama without skipping even once. This is truly a master piece. Every single actors and actress in this drama did their parts and did them so well. I thank the writers for not including annoying cuties little side characters. I thank the writers for not including unnecessary romance but truly focus on the important of the storyline. And also, writers I don't thank you for what you did to Ping'er's Master but I forgive you , I understand it's to built character but damn had me crying a river. 😢 If you enjoy mystery and undercurrent BL and I mean really undercurrent BL this is the drama for you. I hope they come out with season 2. Jing Boran and Song weilong chemistry is off the chart. And the Emperor. I love me a good, smart and caring Emperor.
He's like Sherlock Holmes in that Era. Able to solve problems by deduction and analysis. Good job. Has good eye sight and insight. Best Chinese detective

One of the best suspense Chinese drama I've ever seen. ❤❤❤❤ Every episode is amazing. The storyline, the setting, and cinematography all superb. Totally recommended.
Although this is not usually my genre, I have a lot of good stuff to say about it: 1-production cares 2-movie level cinematography 3-main characters are interesting, loveable and tie to each other well 4-story flows, not a single tone and cases make sense 5-actors suit their characters and develop them well 6-no dubbing 👍🏻
Same this series is not good cus i feel like less production cost n other things but i trynna forgot about untamed n word of honour cus those were so insanely good top class 🥺
The acting is really good as expected. I personally thought, Wei Long looks more captivating in those quiet personality characters and Jing Boran looks more irresistible as a person with positive energy. Yet they absolutely slayed it. However, the story and editing isn't very clever. If it's not clever enough, then it's not my cup of tea.

AMAZING DRAMA!!!!!!! I'm on episode 25 now and dread it coming to an end. I've watched about 50 historical Chinese dramas and I would rate this number 1 amongst the more serious ones I've watched. The cast flawlessly play their roles. The story is mesmerizing and keeps you guessing. If you're looking for romance, over done marital arts and sappy song interludes, you will not find them here. This is character development, mystery, masterful cinematography, authentic costume and set design at it's best. I love the way the episodes open into the drama then go back to the opening credits.
I did watch The Story of Minglan and LOVED IT!!!!!!! I agree it was so well done from the selection of the cast, the story and cinematography. Minglan's grandmother was a scene stealer. I had to rewatch several times the scene with Minglan's dad, First Madam and her brother, when her brother tells them who Gu Tingye wants to marry and the FIrst Madam slides off her chair. That scene is priceless!!!!! As far as the dramas that I've seen that are on the more serious side like Minglan and Nobleman, I'd rate these a close tie for #1. What I loved about this one, was the way the originality of the mystery and the way it was unfolding, the chemistry between the characters, the quality of acting and the filming. It was all superb. Do you like lighthearted fun dramas? I just finished the Legendary Life of Queen Lau and it exceeded expectations. I thought it was going to be stupid, but was hooked after the first episode and felt so uplifted at the end of the series. I'm watching Royal Rumors now and that's a fun one too.
This is indeed a very good series. Unfortunately it was heavily censored, especially the interactions between the 2 MLs (around 7 hours of screen time was censored). This resulted in the ending being somewhat abrupt. If we ever get to watch the uncensored version, I'm sure it would be much better.
@@michellejoll6987 Yes, I do know. This drama was unfortunately implicated by the bl ban in China, even though the novel writer indicated that it was a pure detective story. A lot of scenes, especially those between the two leads, were removed to clear censorship, otherwise the drama could not air. Among them an important dialogue that explained their decision to help the empress dowager. There were many other scenes that we might never get to see. Some leaked ones might be found on Instagram or twitter, and bilibili, the Chinese version of TH-cam. The camaraderie between the leads do portray a somewhat bromance feel imo, the leads really became very close friends because of the drama, even though they're 10 years apart in age.
❤❤❤I am highly recommend drama because it make you think and try to solve the crime with them. Each time the outcome was very surprise and intriguing. I love the characters Zhang Ping a average person who always honest and believes in the truth. He can solved the cases better than the government officials. I watched up to episode #8 and I didn’t wanted it to end. Love it ❤❤❤
I always forget that actor Guo Cheng who plays funny Chen Chou, close friend to Zhang Ping was on The Untamed. He played Lan Jing Yi, the ill tempered young Lan Disciple.

I will say, having watched 10 episodes, although there are some editing issues overall this drama is pretty watchable. Kudos to the production team for some spectacular cinematography and costumes. JBR and SWL look gorgeous as expected, but I also appreciate all the interesting supporting cast as well. From the live stream the cast did earlier today, it looks like they all got on well and still have good rapport 3 years after filming.
