Just heard this song for the first time today, and it is awesome! I hear elements of Devo, Talking Heads and Modest Mouse, yet they have their own sound. Truly cool!
There are obvious New Wave comparisons (The Cars, XTC, Devo). I just love the momentum and the hooks in this song. I played this song on repeat while walking from the Lower East Side to the West Village the other day and it just carried me those two miles in no time. And it's a song about making music! Plus, it has a really good bridge. And what I call a false chorus. The second chorus fakes us out and doesn't repeat the lyrics of the first. It throws us the chords but withholds the "It's the right kind of rhythm" line that I wanted to hear the first couple of times I heard this track. Then it gives us the full chorus. I'm no musician, but if I was mapping out this song, I'd say it's a A B(1) C A B(2) B(1) D Fantastic video, too. This is how you make a low budget video look great. I assume this is the financial district of Chicago on weekend nights and mornings.
First song i heard a week or 2 ago glare i thought sounded like talking heads .now bridge to me sounds like arcade fire all good .jjf.west of west phila.pa
This band is obviously influenced by the 80’s British band, The Sound. If you don’t believe me, go listen to them now and get back to me. Great song, though.
The more I listen to it, Deeper's latest release sounds to me like what The Cars might sound like if they had started making music in 2023 @@extremelynormalperson
How in the actual hell is this band not popping off?! Songs are ridiculously good
Glad to see you here
Benjamin Orr and Ric Ocasec would've been so proud of these guys.
Yes! I heard this on the radio today and almost thought it was a Cars song til I looked at the dash. Right on! 🤘
No doubt!! First time I heard the song I thought of the Cars. I guess if I was going to emulate a sound, the Cars would be one of my top choices.
I hear a touch of Talking Heads as well. Very cool.

Just watched your set at Pitchfork. I am really digging your sound.

@@rdnorthup I love this thought, to imagine them still around and what they'd be making. I'd imagine you're kinda right :)
robert smith is that you?
If you like this, go check out anything by Soft Kill. Darker, but more Robert Smith-y.
This entire band is OBVIOUSLY on Zyn. Total rip off of Shazzy Shooters too.
Interesting angles in this video, though.
