We now know no one is safe in this world! The voice of reason, the moral compass can get taken out just like that! He didn't even get bit, but torn apart by gross walker fingers! The way he lifted his head towards the gun with his eyes wide open to end his suffering is heartbreaking! He couldn't speak but said so much in his facial expressions! Carl really messed up by not killing that Walker or telling anyone that one was nearby, and he lost Daryl's gun in the leaves! RIP Dale! You will be missed! ❤️
Dale was the wise sage and the moral compass of the group for sure. He saw and knew all because he was a great reader of people and situations. What a great judge of character! RIP Dale.
That was, for me, one of the hardest deaths to go through😭😭😭. He was such a smart & great man. He gave ZERO f**ks about what others thought...even if it was an unpopular opinion. You were gonna know how he felt. His absence will leave a giant hole. Every group needs a moral compass. This really broke my heart💔💔💔
Oh man, the way you kept loving on Dale the entire episode, I knew this was gonna be a tough one. I didn't agree with Dale at all, I think killing him was definitely for the best. He's obviously a bad dude...he's in a group with bad people, they try to kill strangers, they rape girls, etc...and he definitely took part in the SA on those 2 girls, you could tell by the way he told Daryl and then waited to see Daryl's reaction before he started saying, "but I didn't touch those girls!" Ummm, yeah...he's lying. Anyway, as for Dale being killed off, Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale) actually asked to be killed off after his friend, Frank Darabont, was fired from the show. The character was actually meant to stay longer in the show.
In my opinion the ending of this episode is exactly where Darrell becomes closer to Rick than Shane because Shane leaves the screen when Rick needs help and Darrell steps in. I just think that was slick directing. Especially after Shane just tried to take Rick’s head off last episode I’m curious at this part which one do you side more with keeping the prisoner or executing him? I’m not gonna lie I think I’m on the shane side on this one
it was Frank Darabont who was the showrunner of Season 1 and executive producer for half of Season 2 Frank was fired because of budget reasons when that happened Jeffery DeMunn wanted to leave the show because he was upset over his friend getting fired it’s like no him then no me if I remember it was actually Frank who convinced Jeffrey to be on the show plus they have worked together before Also Jeffery changed his mind last minute but they already wrote his last episode so it was too late I really loved Dale he sure was a type of person I’d talk to he was the voice of reason in the group still to this day I still miss Dale.
Its good that you picked up on Shane being upset about Dale. Shane doesn't actively want to hurt anyone in the group or for anyone to die, which is also his main motivation that's sending him on a downward spiral
The reason Dale died was because that the actor (Jeffrey DeMunn) was Friends with the director (Frank Darabont) of the show and the director got fired so the actor wanted to leave as well
Dale ❤ And while it's so hard to lose Dale like this, please believe that this show will continue to give you characters you fall in love with and you'll find yourself falling in love MORE with many of these characters in seasons to come.
I feel your pain! I loved Dale too. I cried too at his death. What a great character. If it makes you feel any better (it probably won't), the actor who plays Dale, Jeffrey DeMunn, asked to be written off the show, due to behind the scenes issues that I won't bore you with. If you want to learn more about it, you can google it. RIP Dale!
You can not allow people like that in your group You heard what his group was like and there is no way in hell I’d ever take the chance and let him around my family He knows where they live So matter where they drop him he can always return and w another group He is a threat
I will always remember this episode. I was in my bedroom watching and I screamed NOOOO THOSE (exploitive) KILLED DALE? My husband and teenage son came running thinking something was seriously wrong. 😂😂😂 I was so mad! RIP DALE ❤️
Dale wasn’t actually supposed to die here the original plan for him was to make it to Season 5 there is a scene I woulda loved to see Dale in Season 5 but they had him replaced personally I think it woulda been better if Dale survived to Season 5.
Poor Dale! He just was not made for this crazy new world! If this were real, my wife would open the door. Look outside and probably say: “ No, this isn’t going to work for me.”
RIP Dale. Randall had to die. That story he told about the father and daughter, told me all I needed to know about him. He could have gotten away and brought his group back to the farm. Daryl stepped up when Rick needed help, it would have been another person he knew he had to put down and that's a lot on his plate. Lori is never 100% backing up Rick, it's do what you think is best is her go to, never I'm with you 100%. I could never look at that walker so I always hide my face bcuz he was so disgusting.
Opinion: I think put some frame of the episode will catch more views People dont know wich episode is by the number. The people will see what scene appear and will click
Dale Shouldn’t Have Died So Soon, The Reason He Wanted Off The Show Was Due To Frank Being Fired, They Were/Are Best Friends, Dale Said In An Interview The Reason He Left TWD Is Because Frank Was No Longer One Of The Producers...
One of the most impacting scenes early in the series Dale just wanted to be heard express himself and not lose hope as a human being He was always the voice of reason. Daryl is the true MVP here. As the group’s second in command Shane should have carried the weight when Rick couldn’t bring himself to do what was necessary and end Dale’s suffering and that’s not a negative comment on Rick Rick’s the one with the burden of leadership and all his decisions affect the group The sudden loss of Dale was too much for Rick to take after the loss of Sophia and quarrel over what to do with Randall. Unlike Shane Daryl showed he would help Rick carry the weight Daryl replaced Shane as second in command the moment he put down Dale.
People always hate what I have to say but here I go.... Lori and Shane ae two of the worst characters in the entire show but it a show like this with so many people that are hated Maggie is the worst of them all. Se was o.k for seaon 2 but after that it was painful to watch her everytime I would hold my thumbs that in this episode she's going to die she does doesn't. We lost so many great characters over the years but keeping her W.T.F. She doesn't deserve Glenn and she always wants to play the main character. Don't get me wrong Lauren Cohen is an amazing actress but the role of Maggie just didn't do it for me.

When Daryl stepped up for Rick he cemented a profound bond and friendship between them Daryl is such a loyal dude We all need a Daryl.
Daryl is a good friend ❤️

#Dale❤️
"Is this boy crazy? Is he dangerous?" Yes Carl is.
Rip Dale. Definitely a big loss I loved his character so much. Fun fact in the comics Dale actually made it to like season 5
I heard that it was problems with the production crew that the actor asked to be killed off much sooner than anticipated, such a shame
@ He wanted to leave the show after frank darabont (not sure how to spell) the showrunner for seasons 1 and 2 was fired. They were friends
This was Greg Nicotero’s first time directing a full episode on TWD He is Awesome.
I always forget this is the episode that Herschel gives Glenn his watch and blessing. It's overshadowed by Dale's death at the end.

Daryl is the ultimate Lieutenant He saw his Captain was tired and he stepped up Notice who didn’t.

One thing I learned from TWD - never get too attached to anyone.

@ Yes, Dale (Jeffrey Demunn) was upset that aWalking Dead writer/producer actor (Frank Darabont) was fired so he asked to be killed

Some character deaths were harder to take on this show. Dale was one of them. He was their conscience.
The actor wanted off cuz they fired the director and he was friends with the director.

I was pretty unhappy with the choice to kill off Dale. But at least it was the actor's choice to leave.

Sorry your favorite was taken out. Dale 💔.
Your reaction was sweet. If it makes you feel any better, the actor who played Dale wanted to leave.
I really liked Dale. Too bad the actor really wanted out of the show.

Yeah, The Walking Dead is worse than Game of Thrones when it comes to killing off characters, prepare for a lot of heartbreaking loss.
