Imagine two grand master strategists facing each other, knowing that every movement can turn into an opening. All it takes is one well placed wave of the arm to end the duel. Darth Vader is addled with years of dark side focus, like a man whose strength comes only from steroids. He's old, lonely, out of practice and doubts whether he's fighting for a cause he believes in.
The reflective part of the prop lightsabers in episode 4 were frigile and couldn't handle clashing them very hard
