It's one of Britain's best kept secrets. I was amazed when I first went there. It's a really interesting and pretty place set in magnificent countryside. It used to be in North Yorkshire but due to boundary changes over the years it is now classed as Teeside, County Durham. Well worth a visit and well worth making a detour if heading somewhere near it.
Fun fact : David Harper from Bargain Hunt ( yeah the chap we had) , lives in Barnard Castle 😂 There's an idea....how about a fun fact from every town you visit? Love the glasses Holls ❤
Second fun fact...the chip shop at the top of the hill there, does fantastic spam fritters. However my Cardiologist recommends I give them a miss these days 😂

I can remember one of the pubs down an alleyway off the high street that had just a dirt and stone floor! Amazing place 'Barney Rubble'!

I never knew that. It is a very unrated place, It's very quaint. Very much enjoyed our rather short visit here.
