  • 3 Trains Running Down The Middle Of Main Street! Traffic Waits For The Trains! CSX Street Runners In LaGrange, Kentucky On Main Street. Look Inside A Caboose & Inside A Restored Passenger Car. The Train Station In LaGrange And A Night Time Street Running Train.
Check out the line side signals at Mile Post 27. We have a clear signal for a northbound CSX mixed freight train going right down the centre of Main Street. This was a long one also. There is a southbound train waiting on the siding. After the northbound passes and before the southbound train comes we take a look at the county courthouse. The courthouse was recently moved slightly and then enlarged. The additions have the same type of tall skinny windows as the original structure.
Then we get an excellent view of the southbound auto racks train. This was another long CSX train. After that train passed, Scott, 1960gambit and I went to the train station. We see the display locomotives and rail cars that are outside and then we go inside the train station for a quick look.
We also got invited to tour the inside of the caboose and the passenger car that is being restored. Check out how nice they are and notice that the passenger car has its original color restored. A couple of hours after checking out the rail cars we picked up a train approaching on 161.370 and heard the chirps on 452.9375 from the end of train device.
The final train came at 8:13pm. I filmed it at the best spot as far as light is concerned. Hopefully this one came out pretty well. LaGrange is a fun place to hang out and wait for trains, even at night. Light Up LaGrange is coming up and I look forward to that.
Filmed Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

I've often wondered when the "artist" deface (I guess they call it tagged now), an auto rack by spray painting them, how much paint goes through the openings of the car's sides and onto the vehicles inside.

Thank you JT. Another great video with street running. That night time one was really nice.
The night time one made me, once again, wonder, when the trains regularly go through town during the night, how many people wake up when they do, and how many people wake up when they don't.
    Long Live Street Running!

I never understand people complaining about the trains presumably the railway was built a very long time before people chose to build alongside. I guess it's just opportunistic lawyers that go looking to stir up trouble for a few (lot?) bucks.

    • @tiladx
      @tiladx 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@warminghurst People have been known to build homes under published airport approach and departure corridors then file successful noise complaints. San Diego is an example of that, forcing airlines to take off much more steeply than they normally would. It would not surprise me if someone built near a railroad and sued for noise abatement.

Great video of street running trains. People usually get used to train horns and noises and if it isn't too close, it is not noticed subconsciously. We are fairly close to the tracks and a couple crossings and enjoy the coal trains. As a former coal miner and mine inspector, I love to see lots of coal going out to market. CSX and NS pull through here 2 or 3 times a day. Keep them coming, Mr. Tooth, I like your descriptive commentary.

I kept a trailer alongside my industrial building in SC which was right beside a high speed mainline of Norfolk Southern.....trains ran through around 60mph. You'd be shocked to know that after about 3 weeks I slept right through them. It's amazing what your sleep routine can get used to. Another incredible observation I made was that I could CLEARLY see the economic picture of the country based on the train count on that line. When the "economy" was humming there might be a dozen trains a night...when it cooled I would note as few as four.

Very cool. I've been through towns with street tracks, but have never actually seen a train on them ... except for your videos. Hahaha, gives a whole new meaning to a crossing gate. People don't seem to pay any attention to it. I guess it's what you get used to. It's picking up speed. This video is just excellent, You have outdone yourself. Are saying they physically moved that old building?
The new additions are very nice. It'll look like it's been there forever. It looks like a nice clean little town. Looks like a good town to have a railroad festival. That was a long train. I'll bet most people that live there really get tired of them. Does that old steam engine still operate? The old caboose is great. Love those wood breaks. Never heard of such a thing. Almost dark and look at how shiny those wheels are. Look at the town all lit up. Best video yet Sir.

It is amazing and somewhat distressing that they are changing everything about that courthouse and grounds since it was so nice before. I do not live in Kentucky and do not know the details of why the local government made this decision. I hope the result is equally nice.

So cool how close you can get to the trains it makes you appreciate just how impressive they are & not to be messed with, i like how the rain slowly starts to go faster as it reaches the end of the road rail. Im sure they go over the speed limit! Ive watched videos on the history & sights of this town its intersting. I love the night trains JT, the trains sound even louder. When I was 19, I worked at HC Prange Dept. store on Washington street in Green Bay, WI. There was a train that ran often right between the buildings traveling North and South. One night on my way to work there were emergency vehicles everywhere around the building with a train engine idling right where cars came out of a parking ramp. The girl that worked right inside the door where the locomotive was idling told me the engineer came in and asked to use her phone and he looked white as a sheet. Turns out that a car was struck coming out of the ramp and crushed against a concrete support pillar. There was no work done that night in the store, even my boss was looking out the window at the awful scene. They worked for ours with the "Jaws of life" to free the 2 women inside. One was crushed to death, the other had serious leg injuries. Needless to say, that route was abandoned shortly after this accident. I also got to unload furniture from railroad boxcars at their warehouse from time to time and you cannot imagine how much they can hold until you have to unload one.

Cool video, and great info on the museum! Plus, I saw 2 P&W (my local short line) auto-racks, one on each of the first 2 trains. I also liked the courthouse construction segment, it's good to see the architects did some design matching to the older building.

Which came first 🤣 iconic, and completely impractical. Don't get me wrong as a former railroad employee and rail fan I think it would be cool to have a train go through town every day

This December you should come down to Snow Hill in Maryland. I’m gonna be there running some trains.

Morning noon and night with all those Auto racks there were probably more of them on the rail cars than on the street. At 2:00 the lady that comes out of the store looks befuddled about the train and after it passes tries to make the U-turn in the blind and it's surprising more people don't get hit by that then by the train. That certainly is a first-rate museum with many great items from around the area. Their Plymouth on display is like the one you said in at The Proving Grounds where between that operation and a nearby Ammunition plant 20 of those little critters used to run around shuffling cars. The night shots are great is that area is fairly well illuminated plus the auto racks with all the silver paint reflect quite a bit of light

That was cool seeing all those auto racks going down that street. They street shift in Middletown Pa. The M&H railroad. They use an old Western Maryland Alco.

Locomotives on the 2nd train and the 3rd were the same, 919 and 3149. They were in the same order too. The most likely conclusion is that the videos were recorded on different days. That town is taking advantage of the attention from railfans, and their money, to improve businesses and the museum.

Interesting to see that 919 & 3149 were on a daytime train and returned on the night train in the oppose direction!
