I know how it is with your business being on your own. I have almost the same situation at my shop. It is impossible to find well rounded skilled workers that actually want to learn. I had a high school kid a few years ago that would have been good, but he needed to get out in the world and actually make money! Thanks for keeping up the Ameritron amps. I hope to keep mine running for a long time! 73
Hi Scott, I have an SB-221 that I'm converting to an SB-220 with parts I bought from Heathkit about 45 years ago. I have almost a master kit in it except for the fan kit, new parasitic suppressors, and the glitch resistor. You mentioned to me what size resistor I would need during a phone call. Thanks for that information. I also discovered that the input RG58 cables on the SB221 where wired to the input band switch in the opposite positions than that of the SB-220. That probably would save me a bunch of head scratching when I powered it up wired as for the SB-220. My chronic low back pain is making it more difficult to get the amp finished. I need to install the used input filter assembly I bought off Ebay, the filter cap assembly using the longer caps, and the Harbach metering board to finish the upper side of the amp. I have already finished the lower side and installed new SO-239 connectors. I was going to punch a rectangular hole in the chassis and front panel to mount an Oper/Stby switch using the same style switches on the front panel. I had bought the extra switch from Heathkit, but decided to use an external switch through the amp relay jack. I'm hoping to have the amp operating by the end of the year. Always enjoy watching your videos and even learn something new. Stay safe. 73 WJ3U
Hi Scott. I’m glad that you have gotten over your recent illness. You were sounding really under the weather for a while. You’re sounding FB AGN OM! Keep rockin’ the big watts! 73 JR
I'm waiting for the link to refurbished amps. Great videos. I always enjoy them. Got your shipping info. You don't need the tubes. 73 's de Don W5JX a return customer Scott does outstanding work.
Rather sell with known good tubes so no surprise for the customer, unless damaged during shipping I get the tubes cheap , wholesale . So wouldn’t knock much off anyway.
No need to upgrade the filter cap board Only a way for some to make money Cap fails if a resistor opens up. If has the pink ones in , replace with new type
