I know a few guys who quit decades ago. And tried to get back into it. But could never regain the swing they had. Taking such a long layoff is tough

It's probably because TH-cam wasn't around decades ago.

Yeah it can be challenging but equipment is much better now than 20 years ago so at least there is that! Happy new year

I’ve thought about switching to lefty like a million times to try and start from scratch and build a new swing but I just don’t have the time or commitment for that. It will have to remain a dream 😂

You are not alone in that boat! About 10 years ago I gave it a shot lefty and thought the same way. I thought I have all this knowledge now than when I did at 4 years old when I started, I thought it would be a cake walk. Long story short, I still swing righty 😂 Happy New Years!

Yeah it’s not as easy as it seems in our head. Hence the constant need for swing tips lol 😂

    Was old swing open stance?

It seemed pretty neutral, if anything it may be slightly closed

An idea for a second Channel. LyingGolf where you give tips like "don't lift your head", or "keep your lead arm rigidly straight"

😂 I’ve thought about another channel and call it “Better Worse Golf”

I know this is probably a "swing in the dark" question. I'm 6'6 and ex professional athlete. Middle aged. Good shape. As far as setup goes, what would be optimal for someone my height. Clubs are fitted properly etc already. Far away, up close, wide stance, narrow stance? After 4 years and zero lessons I'm a 9 handicap.

A lot depends on the shot pattern you are producing. Do you know your “regular” shot pattern and are you happy with that. So long as you are producing somewhat repetitive results that is the key. It all comes down to your misses and how they are between them. If you have a miss that’s both sides, and when you do miss it, it costs you strokes, you cannot plan and play your miss. The best in the world have one sided misses and can play to them. I would encourage you to do some deeper stats on your results, I have an excel spreadsheet I give to my students for stats over 10 round. If you want it just email me tony@liongolfacademy.com. If the setup you have does affect your path/plane at impact relative to the target, then you may need to look at your setup change to help you miss it better. Handicaps are all about how well you miss the ball, not how well you strike the ball. You can always send me your face on or down the line to me as well for Sundays! Hope that somewhat helps you. Happy new years!

@ Cheers. Appreciate the great response. I’m not excepting another response and I’ll email ya for the spreadsheet and shot for review. However, I can work the ball either way and when I miss, it’s overcooked lol. My fade can slice and my draw can hook. I prefer to play a draw because my fades start to get me too over the top. I’m learning through trial and error tbh. Also, some of my clubs have higher propensities for certain shapes and I use that. Ex. 5 hybrid loves to be slung with a big draw etc. Anyways. All the best and thanks again.
      Happy New Year. 🥳

Sounds good! Possibly a shaft frequency issue with those certain clubs that tend to sling more than others. If the shaft has too much torque knowing you a bigger stronger guy, it could flutter a lot on you and not allow you to turn and release, if you are an athlete and have good hand / eye coordination, your body may be slowing down to allow the hands to activate the shaft if its drooping or twisting (torque).

@ man ok. Once again thanks dude for responding. Didn’t expect it. Yeah, I was a pro basketball player and played a year of college baseball. Did football, volleyball and tennis too in high school. I am an athletic savant lol. I’ll submit my swing. 🤜🤛
