  • This video was created back in 2014, for a friend who was learning traditional lion dance drumming remotely. Since then, our drumming style evolved to adopt the Gum Chin Gu style from the Lo Lerng school in Macau.
The title of this video says Lesson #1, but I just never got around to creating Lesson #2. Let me know if this video helps you with your drumming. If this helps you , then I may upload more instructional videos in the future. - Uncle Ricky Lee

In Cambodia, this is the correct version of drumming for lion dance. But when I moved to the US and heard their lion dance drumming for the first time. It was not what I heard before.

from when I was involved in lion dancing appx. three decades ago, this is the ONLY correct way to play the drums....
IDK what all these other clubs are doing with their drumming?
they are ruining/disrespecting the true aspect of lion dance drum tardition...
you will see when you listen to other clubs during Night in Chinatown....please do not lose this version...
