Entire thing called marriage requires a blessing from Allah. It called mawadda. Meaning strong bond.
But if Muslims have grudges for others,this blessing will be denied. And there will be no real bond between the couple.
When it is said Islam does not promote hate, some people immediately reply 'love for Allah and hate for Allah is part of Imaan". This is perfectly correct. If a person doesn't know what's "love for Allah" he can't grasp the other part. To get a loving heart requires a lot of refinement of heart and this can take many years. If you achieved this mental state, you won't build mosques using cheap workers and boast "about going to jannah". Rather, you would spend on people with a lot of concerned effort and prudent thinking.
Hate for the sake of Allah doesn't mean growing grudges for people even if they are Muslims or not. Islam doesn't allow grudges to grow in the heart because such a person can't pray to Allah or have relations with people. If you have grudges in the heart, you can't give salam to people and your most close people become psychologically ill. What comes from the tongue is what's in the heart. A person who has no peace can't give peace to others. Please try to understand the context of "hate for Allah's sake". It means you have to judge matters very strictly and don't let your heart become interested in kufr even for entertainment purpose. You have to be judgemental but can't grow grudges.
Synonyms for interest can be attachment,appreciation,passion and obsession.
If a person talks a lot about kufr people or kufr ideas,his heart is getting attached to kufr slowly and losing interest in Islam. Sadly, he doesn't even know it. Next, his family becomes ill and depressed even if they are practicing Islam outwardly.
