Did Mr. Lucas sign a binding contract or not? That is the essential question for me. Frankly, it sounds like he did... Arguing a law is not in place supporting the system is different from two parties signing a binding contract. Please let us know if you are a lawyer who at least got a "C" in your contract law class.
It is still a breach of contract. The problem in this case is that even if UW could enforce the contract through the courts, nobody is going to want this kid in the locker room...much less on the field. So it's really a lose/lose situation for UW.
@dimitri1515 They cannot enforce in courts. I run a big trucking company and we have contracts with shippers that get broken from time to time, it is what it is, implied or signed. You folks up North are missing the main point and that is his father recently became very sick. If it were me I'd tell you to stick your contract also.
Then why are so many agents and lawyers blasting the big ten contract all over social media? Maybe Lucas signed the contract in good faith and then when it was legally explained to him he got upset on how one sided and unfair it was and non binding because it can’t even be enforced until it gets approved. The school can decrease or increase the pay at will. The player was locked in for 2 years unless the school let him go. You can say stand on principle but the big ten template was completely one sided favoring the school. What the big ten is trying to do is to stop all the other players that signed a bad deal to do the same thing as Lucas. Wisconsin should’ve (in good faith) follow ncaa by laws and release the player. But that would’ve sent the wrong message to the big ten players that signed that template. You said at least three times that a player shouldn’t be allowed to take money and leave but LUCAS RECEIVED NO MONEY FROM THAT AGREEMENT. It’s a sheisty thing to do you said, but the MOU was sheisty to begin with. And as of today Wisconsin has not filed suit. Also, The ncaa by laws do not allow for a player to leave within the season so stop with the panic attacks.. He put his name in the portal within the window and Wisconsin didn’t follow the ncaa by laws. The only reason people are so pissed off it’s because it’s Miami. Thug U and all the hate you can throw. Look how many players found homes within 72 hrs of the portal opening up. I don’t hear anybody yelling and screaming tampering. We had one of our best receivers crystal balled to Alabama the minute he entered the portal. We ain’t crying. This has nothing to do with tampering!! It has everything to do with a bunch of players signing a bad MOU. Wisconsin knows it and the Big knows it.
To things we aren't talking about right now...student athlete's education and the current state of the actual UW fb program. Classic bob & weave. Let's talk basketball & hockey. They are navigating the same landscape and aren't in this situation.🤔💡Do the right thing with the right people is the🔑. Always, Wisconsin
Poor Lucas, he is going to have that decision over his head for a long time…NFL is going to throw shade at him. This kid is being taken advantage of by his corner!
What are they holding him accountable for? The agreement he signed is a Revenue share program that isn’t even legal yet. You have to live up to your side of the deal in order to hold someone accountable. Who’s holding Wisconsin responsible for forcing players to sign something then not holding up your end!So there’s No Consideration in the contract thus making it non binding. So you’re proud of holding someone accountable for a contract that is not binding. If Wisconsin has proof of tampering then why not show it. Prove that he took money for the upcoming year. He left Wisconsin and enrolled at Miami without taking any money or any scholarship. He made a decision and is now paying his own way to school that’s accountability. Saying he should live up to his word and then Wisconsin not doing the same is baloney
@ how can you say that and have no explanation? Here’s the only facts that we actually know. The boy signed the revenue share agreement but there’s no revenue share because Congress has not passed the law. So there’s no revenue share. So Wisconsin can’t right now make good on their end of the contract yet they going to hold this guy accountable? Where’s the accountability to making kids sign something that you can’t make good on? I do know that the 4 parts of a contract are Offer, Acceptance, Consideration and Capacity. Are we saying that consideration is covered even though one party can not live up to their end of the deal and needs congressional ok to be able to? The whole your word is your bond sounds nice but Wisconsin has made a promise that right now they can’t keep.
Be a man and stop whining about this.. Wisconsin broke the rules plain and simple. You can’t make a contract that is NoT valid in principle before it is made valid.
Proud of Wisconsin? They broke the portal rules and would not let him transfer. Wisconsin looks bad at the moment. If they want to pluck someone from the portal, now an athlete will think twice.
So let's say Miami Grad Asst hands Miami player a list of other teams players names. Player is to befriend opposing player on social media. Miami player tells opposing player what he can get from Miami. If player says yeah sign me up. Miami player passes name back to GA who passes it up. It then gets passed to a booster who opens backdoor channel and offers financial incentive to player or parents to transfer. Find out who Lucas was talking to (player) and you'll get to the bottom of it. Remember this name...John Ruiz.
Who cares. Being in the right and doing the right thing is better than any hypothetical losses. We still have south Florida players on the roster in full support of the university.

It’s just bluffing at best. Each school can spend 100m lawyer fee fighting this and Wisc eventually loses. Evidence is clear that Wisc illegally held Lucas from the portal
Question for Bo Dragon. But first, when coaches leave under contract there is an exchange of money between schools/coaches. My question is where does it say that coaches and players need to be treated the same? I have yet to see a legit reason for them to be treated the same. Employees are not treated the same as management , CEOs, owners.
Coaches have buyouts, the university has to be compensated...it's not the same thing as the NIL nonsense.
I assured you Coach Fick and the Badgers were standing firmly on the right side of this issue. Xavier needs to focus on doing what he needs to do to salvage his ability to play somewhere in 2025, he is At Risk

@@ChuckHeninger It’s about integrity and things signed. Maybe “Y’all” in Florida don’t value either. That’s on you, not something to be braggarts about.
Did Mr. Lucas sign a binding contract or not? That is the essential question for me. Frankly, it sounds like he did... Arguing a law is not in place supporting the system is different from two parties signing a binding contract. Please let us know if you are a lawyer who at least got a "C" in your contract law class.
Ha - I’m no lawyer and stated as much. I think there’s a difference between doing what’s right and legal loopholes
But a contract requires consideration and if he didn't take any money there wasn't any. Hence not a binding contract.

This comment section is eye-opening.
On Wisconsin 👍💪

The whole your word is your bond sounds nice but Wisconsin has made a promise that right now they can’t keep.
