Nice, I haven't played ranged very much beyond inquis for past lives. I did get my Charisma Pally to hit over 1,300,000 though!! Still my personal fav build atm. Thanks for all your great content Strim!!
Buffed in reaper, can hit 540 ranged power, 170% dbl shot, and about 88 dex. T5 and capstone horizon walker, T4 deepwood for dbl shot, rest in vistani for haste. Destinies Shiradi max, Fatesinger, Shadowdancer. 11 fave enemies (could get 12 but would have to sacrifice dbl shot). Shifter pure ranger.
Also Haste boost doesn't work with ranged very well, the attacks per second/minute are capped at 87, normal haste already gives you a 22% attack speed bonus to ranged weapons, BAB does the rest.... hence haste action boost does nothing
While leveling invest in movement speed and run backwards after aggroing the enemies and just keep shooting and keep doing large loops. The levels are large enough to kite the enemies one group at a time. It keeps you alive as you can keep your distance and dodge attacks. Anyways cheers
Not sure if i just missed it but u want to tumble to activate the 30 ranged power yes u lose a few shots but according to ying himself its worth due to empowering hunts etc
I play almost exclusively ranged characters and I think you oversell the issue with shots vanishing into the æther to be frank. It's the same reason why you can strafe to make enemy archer's miss, if the travel time of the attack results in that shot not colliding with anything the shot misses, and since it didn't collide with anything it also does not report a miss (since a miss has to do with AC/attack interactions and this just failed to interact). You can even have one person be the target, move, another take the spot, and the second person gets hit (though I'm not sure if this holds once precise shot is in play). So I think calling this desync is not exactly right - though I freely admit desync could be responsible for some of it. Regardless, the solution is simple: Positioning, positioning, positioning. And targeting. Position so targets are not likely to move lateral to you and prioritize targets that have no lateral movement relative to you and the problem basically vanishes. In fairness, I will say things like bats, and some spiders do still kinda suck if they are up in your business, but for the most part game knowledge (and/or friends) resolves this by just not letting them get there in the first place. Regardless, thanks for posting a sweet ranged DPS build, it is appreciated.
Its a cool build, but I still prefer my Wisdom AA/Falc build (the Kighter). Ying's preferred raid build is 12rog 6rng 2wlk and atm Im levelling a /2 bard version with dblshot focus. Can get 200%+ dblshot for chance of x4 multihits while boosting! I didnt test it at cap yet, but so far it looks promising 8)
@@takizaddy Not the Bard splashed dblshot build Im running now, but I have some vids on my channel of previous versions. My kighter build is posted as 13rog 6fgt 1mnk
I did a pure Fighter ranged build (before Horizon Walker) that deals similar damage. You get to wear heavy armor and have better PRR/MRR but you can't pick locks. To be honest I'd rather be able to pick locks. That said, Fighter has a nicer window for burst and it can be a near endless supply of action boosts. More of a play style change. Fighter can feel safer when repositioning too. Which is situational but in some raids it is quite important. That being how fast one can reposition and begin firing again. I found that Rogue and Ranger often need healing before recommitting where as Fighter could take the hit and just wait on that precious heal. Cool video.
Inquisitive leveling tends to be fairly easy (Heavy Crossbow or Sharn Nightshade Light Crossbow are simple weapons). It will be lower damage since Int will be lower than Dex on this build, but still nice damage and mostly the same feats. Swapping enhancements is easy and cheap. Epic Destiny should be pretty much the same. If you want faster you could take Heavy Repeater as first feat and Fred-swap when around level 8 when you go Inquisitive instead of so much Harper.
Can this be updated with the new ranged aoe abilities? I know you hate ranged but it would be really cool if you can update the idea of this video.. Thank you strimtom
With 20 ranger, I have -in town- 170 doubleshot, 270 ranged power. I have crit for over 145k. I hit 25-40k every few seconds. Each hit is 2.5-3.5k, and 20 ranger has healing.

so far, my pale master elven arcane archer does well in LE and R1. i haven't taken him much further than that yet because i don't have many reaper points yet and there are still a few gear items i need for him. however, he does great in LE and R1. the majority of quests can be solo'd pretty easily. he also has 2 rogue for traps and evasion. the damage isn't as much as the damages people are seeing other builds. i can hit an enemy for 50k which is still a decent crit. it chunks boss health pretty well. on top of that, you have dot spells you can cast for even more damage. you also have access to wail of the banshee so clearing mobs is a lot easier if you focus necromancy.
@@mosshivenetwork117 if you want to build it, i'll go ahead and put the full build on the forums and link it here when i do for you. it might be a few days before i get to it though because i'm super busy with work this week.
ran one last life, it is painful as all hell first but gets better after level 16-17. You can clear trash as a sorcerer and deal pretty decent single target damage off of the bow end, the issue that I found was that unless you have a lot of racial past lives + bonus AP you're going to have a much tougher time, I basically decided that it has promise but isn't good unless you're basically maxed on PLs, but its also questionable in epics because imbues don't get crit multipliers (if they did it would be a legit build)
the arcane archer imbue you should be using is shock arrows with improved elemental arrows. your crit range can get to at least 17-20 so you end up proccing vulnerability pretty often.
any spellbow build should level as if they were just playing caster until the level 15 area. if you are splashing 2 rogue, or something similar, i typically start with 1 level of that class then wait until about level 20 to take the second level of the class.
Fyi you i age for damage does not accurately display the damage output. On a pure ranger with decent non raid gear i was able to hit 250k on arcane archer. I have seen images of As high as 350k on 6 ranger 1 monk 13 rogue horizon walker, but since transitioning my character to that build with same gear i have actually seen a top end damage drop where my current high end is only 160k which i 1/3 less damage. Also from lvl 5/6 onward bow rangers are easy to level if you run away when fighting
I think IPS is a waste of a feat. Why? Because monster's are constantly moving, they rarely stand like nice little duck's in a row to allow you to damage multiple enemies. Strimtom say's if you are skilled you can line them up, but who usually runs solo? most people play in groups, and you cannot predict what other people are going to do.... A melee rushes forward, a caster casts a spell, too many dynamics are involved in partys to assure CONSISTENT returns on IPS. Also, IPS nerfs your damage by 20%, and precludes you from using the archer's focus - which rewards you with heap's of extra damage - and you can take advantage of stack's up to 25 of AF in the DWS and HW trees... IMO, archer's focus is much better to constantly give you damage, with my current build, trash mobs die in 1 or 2 shots anyways, and I don't need to waste time kiting mobs or hoping that they can all get lined up nicely. I shoot a couple of arrows, then target the next mob plain and simple.

The backstab damage on bows has been the sauce since the level cap was 10. It's been fairly consistent and is a great way to fly.
