Wyze Cam Security Camera Versatility - Time Lapse, Battery Back Up and Hotspot Connection

  • Today, I'm going to show you things that you can do with your Wyze Cam aside from being a security camera.
    I'll show you a feature of the Wyze cams that most security cameras don't have and you probably haven't used yet and this is the time lapse feature.
    Wyze Cam V2 - amzn.to/2Uggeu3
    Wyze Cam Pan - amzn.to/2HZY9K8
    Talent Cell Battery Pack - amzn.to/2UxANkO
    You can have a glance of a day's worth of footage without having to spend time searching motion detected events or worse if you are recording 24/7 for a specific event or events. It is time consuming clicking one area of the timeline and not finding anything, scroll and clicking again. With Timelapse, you just let the footage run and if you see a specific event that you want to check out, just take note of the time and then you can check the timeline recordings.
    My needs for the time lapse is a bit different and this is also the reason why I have the setup that you saw in the intro.

    Another great piece of info thanks. I'm addicted to your channel and so far have only two Wyze cams. Here in Australia they're difficult and expensive to aquire for no real reason and only available via Amazon or EBay. I unfortunately purchased a full 4k Swann system and these little cameras leave them for dead, that is until I'm away from home and my internet drops out for the day and nothing works, maybe we need a hack for remotely rebooting a modem router or having it's own power supply.
    Love your work, want to get a whole house of these linked together if you can recommend one of your clips.
    Keep up the good work, Mike from Aus.

    Your clip is great! My house burned down in a huge fire. The Woolsey fire. And I'm going to rebuild it with several time lapsed cams. Solar power is the only way. 15 feet up and some kind of a waterproof box. Probably 8 to 10 months overall. Do you have any ideas to minimize climbing up and down a ladder to change the SD card?? Can you advise? Thanks! I also need to add that WiFi isn't available until the house is finished.

    Sorry I know this is not related to Wyze Camera But:
    You have done Great Reviews. Thanks as I am in the process of getting some surveillance equipment.
    One question I can't seem to find is: Does the Reolink NVR record the Video When you have a Reolink WiFi camera sync to the NVR channel, or is the Recording only in the micro SD card?
    Could you do a review of how well Reolink does with mixed POE and WiFi cameras.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only WiFi camera from Reolink that you can use with the NVR is the C1 and C2 Pro cameras. All battery powered Reolink cameras cannot be integrated because it will make it all use up the batteries fast.

    So, I started using the time-lapse feature on my Wyze cams. It’s a great feature but I’m having a problem. Sometimes when I go to view the time-lapse video, I get a message that the video is unavailable. I know you have to be on the same WiFi network (which I am). This seems to happen after I have a couple videos recorded. The only thing I have found that corrects the problem is to re-format the SD card in the camera. Then it works for a while. Are you having any of these problems? If not, what brand/ type and size SD card are you using? I have a brand new sandisk 32 gb. Looking forward to your reply. Thanks!

    So I have the same bank, I basically have one wyze cam and a mini router placed in my vehicle ( vehicle has been vandalized) I want to be able to view my car at ANY TIME. with one wyze cam and mini router connected it seems to shut off after 4 hours or so. But when I switch the bank off and back on it seems there is still battery life. So I wonder what the problem is. I am going to switch over to a solar bank that is a higher MAH...... See if this will allow me to record my vehicle fully over night. If anyone has any intel on this kind of set up please let me know.

    nice ! oh btw, just got off the phone with ring, their neighbor feature in the ring app and the stand alone neighbors app will NOT support android 6.01 users anymore, all you get is a blank screen, even tho the website says it will work with droid 5.0 and higher. i've been in bed with ring since they started , had 5 different cams with the most recent being the ring elite and now i'm going to find another video doorbell, sad but ring does not want to do anything about it, not to mention it took almost 3 months for me to get a reply to my issue! i know you're a ring fan , when it affects you and ring says too bad so sad you'll understand my frustration ... maybe your next video? :) oh and i'll take those rogue and other bumper plates you have in the garage ;) how far are you from austin?

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow... I don't use android that is why I don't know about these other issues. I am assuming though they are and will be working on a fix. The neighbors feature is very useful and I usually check it everyday and helps us homeowners to be on guard if there are any happenings that we need to be aware about. My son uses those rogue plates...he is stronger than me now :) I'm about 3 1/2 hours from Austin.
