Everyone's arguing over who's better Taeyang or Seungyoon. The thing is that Taeyang's voice is much lighter, airy and thinner while Seungyoon's is heavier, rich and darker both have different tones but are equally great at using it at their advantages.

but tone doesn’t determine who is a better singer (and being airy isn’t a good thing). seungyoon has a better sense of breath support and can produce resonance, therefore he is the better vocalist.

For me, i'm very proud to Seungyoon. Because he can sing this song with his own style and very confidence with his voice. All of us known it's very difficult to sing Taeyang song, because his voice tone in his song is very strong and unique. So we can't compare both of the song version, because their voice characters is very different
What I really appreciate is KSY sang in his own style and adlibs. He didn't try to copy Taeyang. Taeyang is an amazing singer, I think at certain point singers want to be like Taeyang but KSY sang with his version. In my opinion KSY has confidence in his voice and style and I found it is really charming and captivating. Which version is better it would be your preference and your opinion.

Since a lot of people here are saying that Seungyoon ruined the song and/or are saying that Youngbae should of sang his part instead, here are my two cents: Seungyoon featuring in this awards show performance is meant to be more of a SYMBOLIC PERFORMANCE THAN ONE TO BE COMPARED WITH THE ORIGINAL, MORE OR LESS. I think people are focusing waaaaaayy to much on the technicalities. Quite honestly, I think Taeyangs voice suites the song more, and YES he could of sang his part like most people were anticipating, I mean Mino was sitting at the same table as BB (this really made it seem that Fear was gonna be ft. YB, and let's not forget that the lineup for the show didn't mention anything about the WINNER members going, and Mino had said in a backstage interview after he received his award that it is LONELY WITHOUT THE MEMBERS, even though THAT SLY KOALA SECRETLY HAD YOON SOMEWHERE backstage.) Yoon featuring was OBVIOUSLY kept secret for a reason, for more impact, having WINNER's leader there to SUPPORT HIS FELLOW MEMBER. Yoon has always been Mino's hype man singing this song whenever he got the chance to and supporting him during SMTM , and now he gets to be on this stage with him performing this song with Mino (that got him an award). Also, Look at the clips playing in the background, and think about why they are there. As for the impact, I think people were moved with the performance and that is what matters. GD had a genuine smile on his face during Yoon's part and so did YB if you look closely. And hey ,also IKON looked focused (some other idols too) and some were smiling. Which is more of the reason why I think this was more SYMBOLIC and IMPACTFUL than anything else , like i said before. It's too bad people are overlooking this and harshly criticizing instead, thinking it has to be similar to the original (which doesn't make sense considering Yoon and YB have very different voices). If people are so upset that YB didn't sing here and prefer the original, it's will always be on WInner's channel for you to look at. No need leave comments here leaving exaggerated negative comments here saying that "Fear" is ruined. Personally I think this version is different and not bad at all (but I guess a lot of times people view different=bad?) On a sidenote, I really liked this version because of the energy and Yoon's voice sounds better in other fancams. The stream audio didn't do his voice justice.Peace out.

His powerful voice and aura really did shine (especially in fancams) and combined with Mino's intensity I think managed to capture the attention of such a large audience. They both give of a strong vibe in their OWN way , which is an interesting combo IMO. I keep rewatching YG fam contents and keep crying myself to sleep lol, am I OA, they were just my family figure during my dark times so it's heavy and sad for me now. Since a lot of people here are saying that Seungyoon ruined the song and/or are saying that Youngbae should of sang his part instead, here are my two cents:
Seungyoon featuring in this awards show performance is meant to be more of a SYMBOLIC PERFORMANCE THAN ONE TO BE COMPARED WITH THE ORIGINAL, MORE OR LESS. I think people are focusing waaaaaayy to much on the technicalities.
Quite honestly, I think Taeyangs voice suites the song more, and YES he could of sang his part like most people were anticipating, I mean Mino was sitting at the same table as BB (this really made it seem that Fear was gonna be ft. YB, and let's not forget that the lineup for the show didn't mention anything about the WINNER members going, and Mino had said in a backstage interview after he received his award that it is LONELY WITHOUT THE MEMBERS, even though THAT SLY KOALA SECRETLY HAD YOON SOMEWHERE backstage.)
Yoon featuring was OBVIOUSLY kept secret for a reason, for more impact, having WINNER's leader there to SUPPORT HIS FELLOW MEMBER. Yoon has always been Mino's hype man singing this song whenever he got the chance to and supporting him during SMTM , and now he gets to be on this stage with him performing this song with Mino (that got him an award). Also, Look at the clips playing in the background, and think about why they are there.
As for the impact, I think people were moved with the performance and that is what matters. GD had a genuine smile on his face during Yoon's part and so did YB if you look closely. And hey ,also IKON looked focused (some other idols too) and some were smiling. Which is more of the reason why I think this was more SYMBOLIC and IMPACTFUL than anything else , like i said before. It's too bad people are overlooking this and harshly criticizing instead, thinking it has to be similar to the original (which doesn't make sense considering Yoon and YB have very different voices).
If people are so upset that YB didn't sing here and prefer the original, it's will always be on WInner's channel for you to look at. No need leave comments here leaving exaggerated negative comments here saying that "Fear" is ruined. Personally I think this version is different and not bad at all (but I guess a lot of times people view different=bad?) On a sidenote, I really liked this version because of the energy and Yoon's voice sounds better in other fancams. The stream audio didn't do his voice justice.Peace out.

Forgot to mention that I LOVE THIS VERSION. I WAS SO SHOCKED WATCHING THE LIVESTREAM OF IT. I like that Yoon sang his designated parts in his style. His powerful voice and aura really did shine (especially in fancams) and combined with Mino's intensity I think managed to capture the attention of such a large audience. They both give of a strong vibe in their OWN way , which is an interesting combo IMO. Also if Mino requested for Seungyoon to feature it makes it much more meaningful.(and seungyoon delivered MY MINYOON / Leader Line FEELZ.

This is amazing. I just cried. Legit crying. That's how much I look up to Song Mino. The fact that he performed my favorite song and give it one last spotlight makes so happy. So many people that Mino cares about & treasured finally can hear this song live. Bobby, B.I, GD, and there's so many people there who deserves to hear Fear. Thank You Mino literally for performing and creating this masterpiece.

I'm a fan of smtm4 (only, i've never watch the other seasons) so i watched taeyang's version first and cannot deny that i really love that version so much. But as i heard this version, without comparing to taeyang's version, i also love this one. Then suddenly i found Seunghoon's version, and i love it too. In theend, i just love how this song works. Without caring the feayring artist, the song itself touched my heart. Our heart. The lyrics, is really deep.
