This poem should be read with the consideration of it initiates a discussion about the sexual abuse of children during their age of innocence.
I think this poem does a brilliant job of creating memories of childhood that are tainted with the bitter remembrance of the sexual abuse, which is portrayed in the lines where she talk about the house that is old & decaying and has this rotting smell.
