Yes some voices age gracefully. Dave Gahan sounds just like 40 years ago. Others like Morrissey’s voice has changed with time so he sounds like a distinguished older gentleman. Mac who is the same age… well life happens I guess.

Thanks for posting this. I was actually at this event but they went on about the time the wife and I wanted to eat. With the long lines for food and just the overall crowds, we didn't get to see them up close. I was really bummed that they didn't use the video screens like the other bands. Although I've seen them several times, can one see them too many times? The only band we got to see from start to finish at this event was Gang of Four. When people ask me how was this event, I always tell them, it was the most expensive Gang of Four show I've ever been to! Still had a decent time as I've seen most of the bands that played more than a few times, so I don't really feel I missed that much. Went the next night and saw Iggy Pop and then Siouxsie, probably for the umpteenth time for both acts.
Painful. But I can't look away.

Love Echo. Caught them at the LA Forum in the 80s. They could have been even more successful but things got bigger than the music. Look it up. Still love the songs especially off Ocean Rain: Silver, Seven Seas, My Kingdom, Killing Moon
Ian's head got so big he left the band to get solo acclaim. That destroyed trust which destroyed the band. I really believe a good band is a band of brothers. See U2. Arguably, EATB was U2's equal in the mid 80s. Thank god for TH-cam so we can relive the glory years.

I just saw them tonight in Buffalo NY. They were absolutely fucking fantastic!
It is not a slow fan, it is what is known as the strobe effect due to how it is filmed. Great band shame the sound is poor but hey that’s amateur festival filming for you, but thanks for the post. I saw them the week after at Bearded Theory.

@@chrisbarlow2131 Absolutely true. Tragic really. I saw U2 at the Sphere 2 weeks ago and Bono's voice was just incredible- hitting those highs with no problem. Mac avoids highs like the plague, unlike his operatic, fearless younger self.

The actor Tom Hanks is a non smoker. That's why he can still play the part of Woody nearly 30 years after Toy Story 1 was released, because essentially his voice hasn't changed.
Cigarettes and cocaine. Lots of both. It's nice to see them out and playing again but the set list is lame. I wish they would do more off of Porcupine for example and drop Rescue and Dancing Horses. There was a time where they refused to play Dancing Horses referring to it as a "money song" only and Rescue as easy filler. They really need to get out of there comfort zone and do some more interesting sets

I got to see echo and the Bunnymen back in the day. Sefton park 1979. Buxton pavilion, crystal day ect ect. and many times after. After the death of Pete the magic was gone live. Sorry but it’s just music in my car now.

Don't know what happened but he said Les will never play with them again. It was really shitty for the Bunnymen to use that Irish no Joe in Ian's place years ago. What were they thinking? Imagine The Fall without M.E.S. When Pete died they started to fall apart. Looks like they have some of the old Magic back. Love them forever. A one off band.

No Joe? Noel Burke is a pretty decent musician and his voice is amazing to this day. No one could replace Macul as a front man, but Burke did a fantastic job on his own terms. By the way, Will and Les loved the guy.

Funny how Mac describes himself as apolitical but he obviously has some deep seated hatred for Thatcher despite her being dead over 10 years. He's also impressed with Brandon who is making Carter look awesome at this stage.
The thing this show suffers from is a terrible mix. The live sound engineer really fucked them over. Could use some reverb on Mac's vocals, as well as on Will's guitar, and everything else is so low in the mix it sounds like a coffeeshop performance. WTF was the sound guy doing?

Yes, the first song was a tad ropey. After that the vocals got 10 x better I feel. Could possibly do with a vocal coach. I'm enjoyed it on the whole. Nice to hear such great songs live and loud. :)

The fan is not slow it’s called the strobe effect due to how it is filmed.
The fab is almost synced with the camera's shutter speed.
Assuming the haze machines were an attempt for the lighting to show beams in the air but it's the middle of the day and clearly quite windy.

I Just bought my TIX for June 2024 in San Francisco (WARFEILD. Great Venue!!)
I have never been there, heard it is pretty small, but they have played their before. Saw then in Oakland, and last year in Saratoga. Uncertain about going again.
