No it’s not. If you really watched it or watched it better you’d see it vaguely was similar. They portrayed Max like an idiot, which he’s not. SNL has really shitty actors and shitty writers.

The show is scripted. None of it is actually real. Some of the catfish/catfished "actors" even came out and said as much.
Damn this sketch nailed EVERY observation I've ever made about this show, specifically the "we've been on the air for years showing people how to reverse image search and yet somehow we still meet people constantly who've been living under a rock".

You know, it just hit me how much Adam Lavigne impressed me in the sketch. At one point he breaks after saying “Nev” for the 10th time, but he just rolled with it and made it kind of sound like Nev was just doing some cheesy, self absorbed kind of laugh.

He’s surprisingly good at this dumb acting.
He's a professional performer, why is this surprising to people, also, that specific moment was scripted, also, it's Avril Lavigne and Adam Levine, not Adam Levigne, also, have a good one.

All the people commenting on how they are acting badly and reading their lines form the cue cards clearly miss the point that this is a satire of the show that poses to be reality but is super scripted in every way possible ahha
Julie E they do it in a other sketches if you look hard enough, like the news segments which adds raw reaction from the actors
They're reading from cue cards because the show works on such an accelerated schedule, the cast can't always memorize their lines, making cue cards crucial to live performance. This is par for the course for SNL. It has nothing to do with this sketch's theme.
Exactly. These skits are cranked out every single WEEK. SNL has ALWAYS had their actors reading from cards. Every variety show ever done on a weekly basis has done this.
It's impossible to expect all the actors to memorize all the lines. They're often notified of a character, skit and/or changes at the final hour. That takes serious skill. And just think of all the behind-the-scenes work this takes! I'm talking wardrobe, costumes, wigs/hair, makeup, props. It's staggering!!!!! 🌟

Still, if you've ever watched behind the scenes footage on what it takes to pull SNL skits together week after week... between last-minute changes in writing scripts, learning characters, impersonations. Skits, wardrobe, hair, makeup changes etc., you'd be impressed.
Or, at least I was. It takes some mad skills.
But, I LOVE SNL & always have. It cracks me up & laughter is ALWAYS a good thing. 👍 ❤
