There's so many books I need to re-read (my memory is god awful) but my TBR is so huge that I always feel too guilty to actually do it! I feel like as soon as I start it'll become a habit but I just can't seem to start :')

I am the exact same as this!! The never ending TBR is always haunting me when I want to reread 😂

Its nice to hear I’m not the only one whose rereading habits have changed over the years!

I love rereading books. My all time favorite series, Seekers, I have read at least once a year, since I discovered it in 4th grade. Lol. I'm obsessed.

i think usually (in Before Times) about 20-33% of my reading was rereads. but right now the proportion is much larger, since i'm currently not going to the library, i'm trying to balance new books and rereads.
i have this funny thing where i love a book on the first reading, but then i often somehow kind of forget why i liked it and i'm left with an unfavourable impression. sometimes i reread a book i remember loving, and am surprised to find that i still really like it (or maybe like it again).

Being in my forties now, I've reread a few books I read first when I was in your age. So it's both been a good looong while, but I was also an adult back then. It's kinda neat, gotta say. :)

This year I really start enjoying rereading. My tip is to reread books with friends

I don’t know for sure but I think around 10-20% of what I read are rereads. I don’t think that’s too bad but I’d like it to be lower. I’m such a mood reader so I will reread whenever I want to. But with every reread there’s always a part of me that’s constantly thinking about the many, many unread books I still have to get to!
Having said that, I do have a list of books that I absolutely loved when reading it for the first time and would love to do a reread at some point in the distant future. I just read Elantris as my first Cosmere book and loved it. That one’s a definite reread for me. If I love all the others just as much, that’s a super scary amount of books I’ll want to reread!
I both love and hate rereading books! There’s been many a time when a Harry Potter reread has saved me and gotten me back into wanting to read again. It’s so nice to come back to an old favourite and fall in love with it all over again. Though sometimes it makes me realise how my reading tastes have changed when I don’t like a book as much anymore. That’s always a sad moment. The books that I can remember not liking as much on a reread were The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare and The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han. My first read of these was at least 6 years ago when I was still discovering YA. I loved them so much back then but they both have love triangles which is my most hated trope ever so I wasn’t too surprised that I didn’t like them as much later on.
The Martian is my favourite book of all time and I’ve reread it 8 times at last count! I love it more each time and I don’t see that ever changing. Harry Potter and The Hunger Games are my nostalgia rereads. Very rarely, I will reread books in a series to refresh my terrible memory on what’s happened before I read a sequel. That’s where I feel like I’m forced to reread and I hate having to do that. As much as I love rereading, it has to be because I want to. That’s why I usually won’t start a series until it’s completed.
I love your idea of reading the first book in a series and then waiting to read the whole series once it’s complete! I feel like I’m constantly behind on every single new series because I won’t start it until it’s finished. I don’t know how I’d cope with the cliffhangers though! There’s also the annoying trend lately for authors to release a new book in a series that was “finished” years ago! Unless it’s a series I loved and wanted to reread anyway, I refuse to spend the time to read the entire series again, just to read the one new book. There’s just not enough time in the world for that.

I love this comment so much, it is fascinating to hear all your thoughts on rereading! I also absolutely get the guilt when rereading of all the unread books just sitting there! I worry over the years I will want to reread more and more books as there will be more I love and want to revisit! There is just never enough time!

I basically never re-read, though I can see how it could be useful when reading series. I guess I'm worried I'll find things that will make me like it less, because over time you get exposed to other people's opinions and you go into the book with a different mindset.
About the "did I miss something"-feeling, I feel that ALL THE TIME with a lot of classics 🙈

The only reason I buy books is because I will reread any book. Even if I was neutral about it I will reread it. I just like knowing what’s going to happen.

Great video! It's been a long time since I've caught on to a series early enough to be able to keep up with it. I'm usually able to binge read it all once it's done, but that makes me re-read series over standalones, as well. I really want to read Addie Larue. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I had to reread *Little Fires Everywhere* after listening to the audiobook and just thinking it was ok, but I was new to audiobooks earlier this year and I found myself losing concentration when listening(I've improved since). Anyways, since the TV adaptation was about to stream, I reread the physical copy and absolutely LOVED it(the only book I read twice this year). So if I'm gong to reread, I'll look for it on the opposite format I originally read to see if that makes a difference in my enjoyment.
