    Another interesting (and very unknown) brand is Shizuku-Ishi. Its a watchbrand started by the manufacturer of the modern mechanical Grand Seiko calibres. All their watches use modern Grand Seiko / Credor movevements , but cost about 2000 less compared to a similar specification Grand Seiko / Credor watch.

    Another great video Bill. I would have never thought you could get a watch at an affordable(?) price from such great watchmakers. I like a lot of the watches presented but really like the Daniel Roth Premiere Retrograde and the Chaumet Dandy Arty, both of which are on my radar.
    Best regards, Brian

    Bill, thanks for the excellent content. I found a Antonine Preziuso GMT on Chron24 and purchased it. On its way from the UK. Question: Any thoughts or input on Charriol? A few came up on a feed and while more focused on women's watches the small men's selection seems very high quality. Excellent value on the secondary market, but I cannot find much on their movements etc. Thanks for any input you or others may have.

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul, your query is complicated. Charriol has a focus on women's watches and jewelry. It's best men's watches have Technotime movements. Technotime went bankrupt and the rights to the assets went to Festina, a Spanish-Swiss group, who own Soprod. The new 'Technotime/Soprod' movements are created by Festina-owned MHVJ [Manufacture horlogère Vallée de Joux SA]. MHVJ is a very high tech manufacturing company using nanotech computers creating the parts for Technotime designs. The Charriol watches in the $2,000 to $3,000 range use the Technotime movements, in particular the TT651. Take care, bill

    Nice to see different options to reach top watchmaker. Thanks always inspiring. Just a question since by memory never heard you talking about Gerald Genta watches. Aside the usual sospects, what do you think about gerald genta w. company, or charles genta, or universal geneve by GG design, their movement and composition? Some run with JLC mov, some are swiss mov unspecified....

    In the past top watchmakers’ clients were royal families, aristocrats and industrialists. The everyday man couldn’t afford watches. The mid and lower class were passing watches as heirlooms. Was a big deal having that. Nowadays we are all pampered and think we should punch above our weight 😅 which in fact just the version of this trend has changed. We can add nouveau Riche to the bag now 😅. But no one stops us from appreciating great works on the hands of the super rich 😂

    The pricing strategy of most independent watchmakers nowadays is just to list their phone numbers plus a couple of zeros as the MSRP. Either that or their social insurance number.
    In these circles cash is trash.
