    I was smart to put it down early and allow the updates and DLC to kick in, so I'd get the opportunity to play the true version of the game. Seems like it will pay off once I'm ready to take break from Starfield. Great review as usual.

    B-roll footage only for reviews again. you'd think they learn that wasn't a good idea the last time. BUT! I'm liking at what you stated about the "see how the patch changes feels, decide to buy later" for the Expansion. That was exactly what I was wondering about.

  • @mraso30
    @mraso30 ปีที่แล้ว +80

    I'm definitely ready to finally give Cyberpunk a fair shake. I put in about 15 hours over the past couple of years, usually a few hours after each patch to see how it is doing. Back in June of this year it finally felt like a game I could really enjoy playing, but then I realized Phantom Liberty and Patch 2.0 were due out in a few months and decided I'd hold off until the game is truly completed. Thinking I will update to 2.0, restart my main story with female V as her voice actor is a lot better everyone says, replay up to the point I am at currently at least, and then if I am truly feeling great about the game (which I do think I will) I will buy Phantom Liberty. The only issue is that I am enjoying Starfield so much, I don't really want to put Starfield down or on hold... So I am sure I will DL 2.0 tomorrow and start a new game, but it may still be another month or two before I fully jump in again. Soooo many great games coming up to play. Spiderman 2, Alan Wake 2, STALKER 2, Avatar is looking good, Phantom Liberty / Cyberpunk, AC: Mirage is looking pretty good too. May be missing one or two that I am looking forward to as well that release in the next 6 months or so.

    • @thegameslave2
      @thegameslave2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in a similar boat. I've been slowly playing Starfield, and enjoying it more bit by bit, each time I play, but then Lies Of P came out yesterday, and I've been looking forward to that game for so long, so I immediately jumped into that and I'm loving it. Still wanna remember to keep putting time into Starfield, though, as well as checking out CP2077 for the 2.0 patch, and a few other games you mentioned, like Avatar, Assassin's Creed, and Stalker 2. Lots of stuff to look forward to, just gotta figure out where to put the time into which game.

    • @adarwinterdror7245
      @adarwinterdror7245 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Previews of stalker 2 are extremely negative so far. Like its miles from being complete.
      I would temper my expectations.
      Btw, 2077 is amazing. I find it better than starfield in the most important ways. But both are awesome in their own way.
      I love such rich-men's-troubles of having too many new games at once :D
      Not a dull moment.

    Loved the story in my original play-through. I do wish that this expanded upon the ending(s), I'm not a huge fan of expansions set in the middle of games. I prefer expanding the story and moving forward. so many questions about V, I guess they just don't want to decide on one ending. I'll check it out though, looks really good. I'm amazed at how good Cyberpunk looks and runs on the Series X and other consoles, amazing work by CDPR. Then I look at Starfield's facial animations and cringe.

    Random thought: I'm convinced big studios like CDPR prefer to release an ambitious game in an unfinished state to guarantee a steady source of income from the preorder hype + steady drip of new buyers; pretty much an early access without the early access tag. It gives them easy publicity (any publicity is good publicity) and therefore an immediately boosted platform to advertise their improvements and DLC. Plus most studios who end up turning the crap game into something notable and "good" usually get forgiven pretty quickly, especially since patches are free and the game's price only stays the same or decreases over time (see no mans sky, BF4). It may not be good for reputation at first but its not the craziest idea if a studio is bleeding money and need to show some return for their investors? Would be cool to hear an insiders opinion on that

  • @vovindequasahi

    What I've heard is that version 2.0 with the DLC included is really the game that everyone was hyped about getting before Cyberpunk was released. It still doesn't seem to have any relaxing stuff to do in the city itself, like gambling, and fun little side-activities that Rockstar games are known for, so the city is still a pretty barren playground in that sense. However I am sure going to get the DLC and play with a new character and experience it properly, because I had the patience to wait to complete it once I heard that this stuff was on its way.

    • @Particle_Ghost
      @Particle_Ghost ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Rockstar games may be filled with stuff to do, but the gameplay in those games are boring scripted trash that doesn't even offer difficulty setting, unless it's Max Pain. Drive around the backroads in the game if you want peaceful.

    You know what, I love Cyberpunk 2077 now it's fixed, easily the best game so far on the PS5 HANDS DOWN!!! I love the cultural blend with Asia, true to the genre. But Phantom Liberty? It's just so damn OOO RARR AMERICA!!!! I'm Australian and free thinker enough to see blatant force-fed patriotism when it's shoved up my nostrils. Hey to all my American friends best of luck to you all! Be nice to each other and the rest of the world. But this???? Seriously. It's a cliche. I'm only glad I got out of the DLC with some funky gear.
    My thoughts. It could have had the same mechanics and playability without being a shallow 80s action movie about saving the freaking President etc.
    And such a missed opportunity to have three new radio stations which could have had BIlly Idol the godfather of Cyberpunk music, instead we get three new stations even more forgettable than the last ones. I mean, wouldn't you have prefered to be tearing around in Night City to Shock to the system? I know I would. :)

    As someone who wasn't a fan of the base game due to immersion, story, characters and world interactivity, I'm going to have to give this one a pass. Thanks for the review! I appreciate your honesty and openness on what this offers and who it's for. And, unless I grab it on a good sale, you saved me some money.

      It's CDPR, they kind of didn't have a choice. But it's still technically worse off. It lost its massive MP spinoff, the rumored 2/3 xpacs, and probably tons of content that got thrown out because of the focus on actually finishing the game.
      I can't wait for the big 2.0 patch but none of it is going to change the game's most glaring issues like how lifeless and wasty the open world is, especially compared to games like GTA which has its problem but man has a shitton going on around every corner which is why people keep coming back to it 10 years later.
      Hopefully they learn from this mess...

      Don't be fooled. Cyberpunk was ALWAYS good... for people with a decent PC.
      The VAST majority of the crappy bugs you saw was from people playing on last gen consoles. A decent PC with a decent graphics card ran Cyberpunk 2077 just fine at launch. Were there bugs? Sure there were, but no more than most other AAA release in the last 10 years.
      People claiming otherwise are ignorant or simply lying. Of course, its possible to simply not like the game itself but that's personal taste and a completely different story.
      All that said, I'm really looking forward to this new expac! It looks amazing!

    • @CrystallineLore

      The story was the only good part about the game, and by that I mean the core story. All the side quests and most of the companion quests were pretty boring or outright terrible, and few had any consequences.
      The 2.0 patch should make it player it actually bearable though, and supposedly it gives the game an ending that won't piss people off by insuiting your V dies anyway post credits. Solid high 80s games I guess but man I'm glad people didn't give it game of the year as a freebie because it in no shape or form deserved it. Hard to believe this is the same studio that made Witcher 3.

    • @mraso30
      @mraso30 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@CrystallineLore Yeah I am thinking I will mainline the story this time around. Last time I did a lot of the side quests and I didn't like many of them. Got about 15 hours in and gave up on it, but I did like a lot of what the main quest had going on (only complaint is they should have had like 5 quests during the introduction, instead of that lame montage with Jackie, would have been so much better to have the intro that they showed off as just a quick cutscene). Almost feels like there should really be another DLC made, which is more like a prequel, and fills in that gap of time.
