Recently, I had the opportunity to buy a Gibson ES 335 with repaired neck. The bridge pickup was swapped for Seymour Duncan SH4, so it had quiet unbalanced pair of pups - 57 Classic & SH 4. My initial idea was to restore this guitar and put 57 classics like Gibson makes them, but due to Covid madness these pickups seemed to be sold out everywhere. I also read that some people like change 57's for Burstbuckers pro, so I thought ok I'll give it a go and got my hands on Burstbucker pro set, with all that I changed the wiring for 50s style with Emerson 500k pots & Orange Drops. Now , funny enough student of mine asked me to do a little set up on his ES 335 that has stock 57 Classics so here's comparison of two ES 335 guitars...one is 2001 with 57 Classic and second is 2010 with Burstbucker pro's....I think both guitars play like butter and sound amazing....soo you let me know guys what's your favourite pickups ? If you want to find out more about gear I used in this video check video description ;) ....Enjoy :)

An Awesome Listen to these on a level playing field. Nice work and playing! Thanks!

Great playing and really useful comparison thanks.
I prefer the 57s as they sound sweet and chirpy (at least to my ears). But if I was going to use a bit more drive, those Burstbuckers sound lovely!

57s for me but they both sound great. Nice playing and demo dude.

I have 57's in my Les Paul, SG's and my 335 Studio and all sound great. I think overall, it depends on your sound taste and what you play. For me I always play clean, jazz tunes and such so I never use distortion or any pedals, just my guitar and amp. That works fine for me. If I did use pedals, I probably would go with the Burstbucker or maybe P90's.

Thanks for the demo. I have a 335 with bb pros, I hate to use the word compression, however on recorded tracks the bb pro sounds if a light compressor was used, on my recordings, vs the classics. Subtle as the differences may be on my equipment and recordings. It makes a difference thanks again for a great video

I find the '57s Classics to have the right sound for heritage blues rock, while the more recent Burstbuckers sound more aggressive and therefore more suited to modern rock... However they all sound great to me.

Sweet demo, both pickups sound great. Guess it all depends on your cup of tea. Speaking of tea, I've got a 2021Gibson ES 335 Figured Ice Tea on order. It comes stock with Gibson's new version of the T - Type pickups. I've got a set of 57s - 57+ in the bridge that I picked up for my 61 Reissue SG a while ago, but haven't installed yet. The 61 SG has '61 Burstbuckers in it right now, which I like a lot. After seeing your vid and a few others, I'm leaning towards putting the 57s in the ES 335 and putting the T - Types into the SG, like the Chicago Music Exchange has done in their exclusive Gibson SG models. My next move, would most likely be picking up a set of Seth Lover's for the ES 335 after trying the 57s in it. Just wondering if you have any experience with Seths in an ES 335 or other hollow-body guitar, and how they might compare to 57s? Cheers.

I think the 57s are perfect for 335 and isn't they were made mostly like that in recent years ? I didn't try set lover set yet but I've been thinking to putting them on or maybe come back to stock and stick with 57s ?

@@MichalKulbakaGuitar I think they used to use 57 Classics a lot but in last few years switched to Burstbuckers and then the MHS pickups. Now, they’re using the T-Type pickups in the new USA models

The BB Pro's sounded nice and fat. Worked well with your playing style IMO.

    Fajne porównanie👍
    57 jest bardziej plastyczny,zasługa Alnico2
BB Pro jest bardziej presentz, zaczyna wchodzic w crunch tone. Ma chyba mocniejszy sygnał dzieki AL5
Ogolnie kwestia gustu. I zalezy do czego podłaczasz.

Will a Gibson 57 classic pickup fit into an Epiphone 335 Pro without doing and cuts to the guitar?

Burstbucker Pro has more saturation to the tone

57s sound a bit thicker and the Pros sound a bit clearer, but they're similar enough to my ears for me to have no preference.
