I was 13 years old at this very concert in November '81, and to this day, it is still the best concert I've ever been to. Five guys just killing it on stage with their pure talent. To me, Steve Perry is the GOAT.

@@patriciaellis4848 Hey Patricia, that is very cool! Yeah, this was the "talk of the town" up and down the school hallways when everyone wore their concert shirts. Man, we were lucky...what a great time to be young!

I love seeing young people discovering my generation's legends. Steve Perry is still going strong at 75. Check out his solo work.

Every Journey song with Steve Perry is amazing. Look up their live performances. Not one flaw ever. So glad to see the younger generation discover them.

The background story for this song is. Before Jonathan Cain (the keyboardist) joined Journey. He had parts of this song written when he was in the group called 'The Babies'. He brought it to the singer John Waite. And John didn't care for it. He called it rubbish.
And when Jonathan joined Journey, he played it for Steve Perry. And told him the John didn't care for it. And Steve said......'Well bad for him, good for us!' That night Jon and Steve finished the song. And it became one of Journey's top songs!

Written by Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain. Produced by the late Kevin Elson, RIP, and late Mike Stone, RIP. In the movies Heavy Metal and Last American Virgin.
Great ballad! 👏 1 of the best singing efforts of Steve Perry in Journey! 🤯
In 1973, guitarist Neal Schon, bass guitarist Ross Valory and singer/keyboardist Greg Rolie quit Santana. The 3 men formed Journey with Ansley Dunbar on drums 🥁
In 1980, Jonathan Cain was in The Babys 👶. He wrote a piano instrumental. 🎹 He showed it to lead singer John Waite. He rejected it! 🙄 The Babys broke up. 💔
In 1981, keyboardist Greg Rolie retired. JC auditioned. Journey hired him. JC showed the instrumental to Steve Perry. He liked it and wrote the lyrics. The instrumental became Open Arms! 😃
What about John Waite? 🙄 3 years later, he wrote Missing You with country music songwriter Charles Sanford (who wrote for Stevie Nicks) and Mark Leonard. JW ain't missing Open Arms at all! L🤣L
In 1987, Journey broke up. JC and JW reunited. They brought Ricky Phillips, Deen Castronovo and Neal Schon to form Bad English. 🇬🇧🇺🇸. Unfortunately, their last album was released 31 years ago. 🎂 They broke up.
But JW got hits as a solo artist again 😃, and Journey reunited. But Steve Perry left again. 😖
Also, Ross Valory, Steve Smith, and Greg Rolie formed The Storm. They released their 1st album in the same year that Bad English released their last album.
Suggested videos 📹1 Bad English plays Straight to Your Heart 2 John Waite performs Missing You. 3 The Storm performs I've Got a Whole Lot to Learn about Love.

Beautiful young lady, you nailed it when comparing to Chris Stapleton. My wife, also a woman of color, would agree. She calls Steve Perry, the Wolf because of his looks and his howling on the mic. So she thinks, Steve Perry, Chris Stapleton and the lead singer of Nickelback could sing the panites off any woman including herself. LOL

He may have been born to do this, but he perfected because he was heavily influenced by the great soul singer Sam Cooke, he wanted to deliver his vocal and stage presence just like Same Cooke. Including arm movement.
