Woah, you must be new to this genre of music. From Jay Postones of Tesseract and Troy Wright of Plini to Stef Broks of Textures and Dan Foord of Sikth - they all play with uber finesse. Watch any playalong video of Jay Postones for a start.
Easily one of the best drummers on the planet. Why this video does not have millions of views is criminal. Some of the garbage that passes for music that gets millions of views is also criminal. This generation is doomed,
no fancy camera work or filters... just pure raw awesomeness.... this is something more...this band is on a different realm... pure raw feeling and musicianship.
This track is freaking amazing, I lost track of how many times I've listened to it. Smartfriend still reminds me of Meshuggah and Soilwork, two of my favorites. Can't wait for the new album
Your control is amazing. Sometimes people don't realize that sticking to such a tight groove is more difficult than just going ham with a ton of unnecessary fills.
I love looking at the biomechanics of drummers... I notice none of his “instruments” are above his shoulders so everything is coming down to the drums letting gravity do the work.. certainly notice it more with modern drummers... I’m not a drummer but I love drums!! Is this a style thing or is it a technique that’s been applied?? Oh and obviously I freaking love this band!!!!
I had a similar thought process but you’ve analysed it wonderfully. I thought it’s really weird how low his cymbals are, like it must be hard to lay into them but despite that he does it perfectly. To me this is a kit set for the music.
I hoped you guys had this playthrough.. And you delivered. Thanks for giving me the insight on how to play it. I just HAVE to give it a try! Congrats on that groove too
Adam, brother - as allways - sweet drumming! Linear beats look effortless when you play :D P.S. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that doesn't let any broken cymbal go to waste! Those stackz!! lol
Is it just me or is shia labeouf sitting there? Pretty sick drum playtrhough though. I fucking love this song and also how much more the drums kickin in here. Stoked to see you guys in Hamburg with Monuments and Kadinja, unbelievable line up.
Those flams. Those ghost notes. It’s so refreshing to see a drummer playing heavy music with finesse and dynamics!

@@amjan jay is a god
Welcome to modern prog metal
@@amjan ..Garstka, Halpern, love em all
Adam is a great example of playing decent chops yet not overplaying it.
I'm not sure non-drummers could understand how cool Adam is, absolutely amazing!
Easily one of the best drummers on the planet. Why this video does not have millions of views is criminal. Some of the garbage that passes for music that gets millions of views is also criminal. This generation is doomed,
I love drummers that throw out the standard 2, 4 on the snare. Awesome offset beat that still drives the feel of the song!
I just love Adams facial expressions whilst playing, so much emotion behind every hit.
Wow, didn't know that Shia Labeouf is a great drummer
I came straight to the comments to check if anyone had wrote this before I typed it up, lo and behold 😂😂😂
LOL
Glad I wasn't the only one that thought that.
He crushes it.
Am I the only one that thinks there was a lot of editing? He looks way to robotic/jitty for this to be a one take video!
The intro gave me some serious Karnivool vibes. Awesome playing as always Adam!
Inmazes gives me a lot of asymmetry vibes by karnivool
no fancy camera work or filters... just pure raw awesomeness.... this is something more...this band is on a different realm... pure raw feeling and musicianship.
Amazing how proper tuning can even make a cheap snare like that sound incredible.
That chorus has so much weight on those hits, jesus christ. Good job adam!
ikr? Totally amazing

I'm thoroughly digging all these playthroughs, ,even as a non-drummer. It's these amazing grooves that makes Vola the badass prog powerhouse.
Goddamn, that snare.
First time to see it, the drummer is great...
Awesome Drumming Adam! Always a pleasure watching you play.
I always enjoy watching one of the best Drummers on the planet make magic.

Me too.
Proof that you don’t need a huge drumset to sound huge and versatile.
You are a great drummer, but the best of you is your passion. Thanks for your music!

That was so awesome! Love this song.
