    I had a friend whose wife had a chronic illness. They got a condo in Guadalajara. He advised medical services are excellent there. There is thriving medical tourism there. Many of the doctors also have offices in Los Angeles or San Diego USA. Nurses & housekeepers much cheaper there than USA. She loved Guadalajara and wanted to spend her last days there. The family had family holidays there to be with her. She passed several years ago.

    .Very nice ! The “master bedroom” in your video with it’s sole access via an outdoor staircase appears to be what was probably intended as a maid’s quarters. Many homes in Mexico have a separate entrance for servants, usually leading directly to the kitchen.

    I'm curious to know why she moved out of Queretaro, im currently deciding between Guadalajara or Queretaro. I spent 5 months in Guadalajara and loved it last year, but never quite felt as safe as I felt in Guanajuato. I've heard from locals that Queretaro is very safe. Did she mention why she moved to Guadalajara?

    Great info Alex and Louise ! Thank you. We never needed a Fiador, as we always , after getting what the owner wanted a month, offered to pay either for 6 months straight away, or a year, if the owner was willing to negotiate the price. They Always did, as they really prefer the cash in hand. And, we always got a really good deal. That is a great method to use. I would guess that place of Louise could be had for no more than $450- $500 a month for a year, maybe 6 months (my first offer if the owner wanted more). Remember, Mexicans like to bargain.

    • @robertvictor3237
      @robertvictor3237 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rents in Guadalajara have increased dramatically after COVID. We have two Mexican friends here who were forced to move out after their rents in centro were increased beyond what they can pay. My wife owns a two bedroom apartment in Zapopan with a tenant that has been there for 5 or 6 years, they pay about 4000 pesos per month, the real current market rent is nearer 8000 pesos. The cost of living and inflation increases but she doesn't want to evict her tenant just to get more money. The two properties in centro that our Mexican friends were evicted from have both been redecorated and re let to foreigners paying more than double what they paid. There is a hidden cost to rich foreigners renting property in Mexico... You are making Mexicans homeless.

    • @phildodd5532
      @phildodd5532 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertvictor3237 Actually, the dueno is making Mexicans homeless. Lets call a spade a spade, no ? Some of those new tenants are also rich Mexicans. 😁

    • @robertvictor3237
      @robertvictor3237 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@phildodd5532 agreed ... but there is an almost limitless potential supply of foreigners with money willing to live in these places. Mexicans yes many want to but not at those prices and rich Mexicans prefer gated communities.

    We're thinking about taking a trip to Gudalajara in 2023 to check it out as a possible retirement destination. Am curious to hear what more you learn about the rainy season there. I think I saw somewhere that the rain only tends to be an intense shower in the late afternoon or evening. Is that correct? Or is it more like a torrential rain that lasts all day?

    • @enriqueorozco3693
      @enriqueorozco3693 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is not usual that rains all day, but when it does may last few hours and could be very intense, hailstones storms are becoming more common as well. Besides that is a great weather and the smell in the air is amazing when the water hits the soil.

    It’s been over 10 years since ive been to Guadalajara.
    My family from Tepa one and a half hours from there.
    Just went to Guadalajara this past week March 17-24, its not the Guadalajara I know from way back then. This city is so run down so much traffic looks nasty.
    I live out here in California not to far from San Francisco or Oakland.
    It king of reminded me of those cities.
    I definitely would rather be in Tepetitlán.

      $20 US or 400 pesos a month is not a cheap electricity bill it sounds like someone else or another property is connected to their metered supply. We rebuilt a 4 bedroom house with 2 split aircon units (rarely used) and our electricity bill is less than half that. Also their water bill is ridiculous. We pay the annual estimated bill instead of monthly. This year the bill was $50 US or 953 pesos for 12 months. I really dislike the distortion of the local economy due to relative wealthy gringos pricing locals out of living where they were born. Many younger Mexicans are beginning to express their displeasure too ...a problem that is only going to get worse over time as more economic refugees/migrants from the North make life unaffordable for them.
