If you're *smart* and you want to make a lot of money in that case: you don't go into prospecting, you go into farming- everybody's got to eat, and most gold prospectors aren't going to devote time to growing food, but you're going to have a steady demand for your services, or running a hotel at that.
Mexican Americans, Native Americans were affected the most. But Chinese Americans were also effected too. Anyone who wasn’t a white Anglo Saxon were effect but the groups mentioned above were effected the most, especially Native Americans.
I highly doubt that was built in just 2 years and seems very naive to suggest it did off of a painting. I'd like to see an actual picture of SF in 1848.
