      I have JJ on two phones. I adore the game. Its very addictive but you can make new friends, if you join a team. It's very strategic, if you like to lose your brain. You can spend money but, only if you're impatient. I'm impatient, so I do but loads of players don't. Join a team and save coins for large items, is my tip. Don't concentrate on 1 x 1s at all! They're you're biggest nightmare!

    I remember this case being covered on "Unsolved Mysteries," way back in the 90s: the show's description of Hugh's "work-when-I-feel-like-it" lifestyle and Dian's propensity for serving dog food stuck out in my mind. Neither one of them seemed at all "right" in their minds, and hearing that it all ended in disaster, and likely murder, wasn't much of a shock.

    Yeah, I think Hugh snapped and killed her. The disappearance, I'm not sure about. I feel like the fuel line that was missing is probably the key to finding out if it was a voluntary disappearance, or a homicide.. what can you do with a fuel line? I'm leaning towards a voluntary disappearance, but him going without resources makes no sense, even if he is a survivalist.

    • @fernviking7909
      @fernviking7909 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

  • @DoloresJNurss
    @DoloresJNurss 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I don't think he killed her. Divorce is relatively easy in California, and free-spirits like Hugh and Dian wouldn't have cared what other people thought of them if they did get divorced. For that matter, it would have been the easiest thing in the world for one or the other to just leave and not even bother with the legalities. When someone with no prior history of violence suddenly murders, it's because they feel trapped in some way--at that moment they don't see any other way out. Hugh just sounds mildly annoyed, but not so annoyed as to make too much of it.

      OR are jealous because new romantic party enters - jealousy or fear of loss of income to pay rent, etc. or feels betrayed, or flaunting new relationship in his face. There are multiple reasons why a lover/spouse can become enraged/angry and do the unthinkable.What about retirement money or savings - might have been leaving him so he freaked? I'm old - don't let that 'hippy' thing influence you - they were same as rest of us, except possibly multiple partners that OFTEN resulted in violence. Human behavior never changes.

    much to unpack.
    *would a freelance fisherman & survivalist would eat dogfood casserole?
    *he borrowed tools before he left. were they still in the truck? that would be useful to know.
    A: his fuel line failed when he was driving to the job where tools were needed. So he took it in order to show a local garage what he needed to replace& headed there on foot without realizing YET that hed dropped his keys.
    B: with those tools& his fishing skills& survivalist savvy, he could find a jillion ways to vanish. But why? He was guilty& fled capture? He was innocent but feared false imprisonment?

    Thanks for another intriguing episode. This is indeed a sad and confusing case. I am of the opinion that Hugh may have had something to do with his wife's murder. He certainly had a motive. On the other hand, his disappearance makes no sense unless he too was a victim. With so little information to go on, I'm not surprised that this tragic case is still unsolved.

    So maybe if we start this story out a bit differently.
    A woman who was isolated with only her husband and dogs for company, with the community shunning her because of tales of abuse from the husband, dies mysteriously. Strangled by a dog leash.
    Hits different.
    Maybe he thought he brought the leash away with him.
    And maybe someone else thought of it this way, too.

    • @davegentry-pu9xm
      @davegentry-pu9xm 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Or let's start this story out a bit differently. Woman does her best to destroy her man. God takes mercy on the man and quietly exits this terrible woman from the face of the earth. And to further the blessing, the man has a bout of amnesia and wanders off into the sunset to start a new life free from any bad memories of that terrible woman. Hits different, eh?

    I am level 695 on Junes Journey. I have been playing it for years! I would recommend playing it on a tablet or PC, as some hidden objects would be hard to find on a phone. They can be rather small and blend in to the scenery. Also, it's not just one island you get to decorate. I currently have 4 islands, but I haven't finished unlocking all parts of the 4th. I would also suggest to NOT try to do all the events. You need to decorate to advance, and some events require you to advance to win the prize. If you want a pretty island, you will want to take your time. My islands are clogged with decorations I don't like because I was trying too hard to do all the events. Oh, and there are days when one event ends and another begins just a few hours later.

    It doesn't make sense for him to lie about the dog leashes. If he did it he knew he used a leash so the police would know he used a leash and know the dogs had no leashes. Why lie? It doesn't seem unusual until the lie. This suggests to me he didn't do it. Did he lie to give police that same impression?
    On the one hand there is no real evidence to show he did it but I believe he was absolutely capable of setting his truck up to look just suspicious enough to keep people always guessing and maybe it worked. He was a person who could survive off grid forever.

    • @momtammy3563
      @momtammy3563 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, and I think it's possible that the dogs came home one with, and one without, the leashes. (That feels like horrible sentence structure, but we aren't here for an English lesson after all.)
      If the dogs returned on their own, and 12 days later she was found, he could easily have forgotten that they were not similar in that way. Remember, these are the dogs that ate better than Hugh, and he might not have seen anything out of the ordinary (aside from them coming home without Dian).
      I would also speculate that, considering the era, their ages, and a few other factors, that drugs were involved in some way. It's even possible that Hugh had a smuggling sideline. A lot of fishermen, especially the solos, were thus engaged during the late 70s to early 80s.

    Hugh got rid of a headache and dipped afterwards. Left his truck and belongings in a manner that created more questions. The gave rise of a larger conspiracy outside of who may have murdered his wife (distraction tactic). He hiked several miles. Hooked up with a sympathetic friend who gave him a lift to parts unknown. And he lived the rest of his life in peace before he eventually died from natural causes. After witch his body was buried(as planned beforehand) by someone he had a close ties with, at an unmarked location.
    All of the above is just my assumptions as narrated by Robert Stack imagined in an Unsolved Mysteries update.

    I know the area of Morro Bay and Cambria quite well; it’s on the way to Big Sur.🦦 I can’t help but think Hugh took Dian out; the lie about the dog leashes on when Dian didn’t return is telling. Hugh wasn’t concerned about Dian missing for approx. 12 days? She had a pattern of leaving for days could be a big fib. Strangling is what cowards do to females. Hugh’s disappearance is more of a mystery. A cut fuel line is fascinating. Sounds ominous. Thank you DC for another well done episode.

      the fuel line wasnt cut... it was missing. he took it to show the garage what he wanted to replace or to make it look like he was planning to visit a garage.
      now about all those things he left in the truck: a survivalist& pro fisherman might own multiples of those things& could leave them as a decoy. i bet he didnt know he dropped his keys

      @@KohalaLover not necessarily. . i think he's a guy who can fix his own truck if he only had the part. REmember: he borrowed tools before he left. The most logical thing is he went off to get a replacement & meant to return. but it would certainly be a clever ruse

      I'm from Monterey County but live near Morro Bay now. The central coast is beautiful!
      I'm not sure about the dog leash statement suggesting guilt. If he had used the dog leash to kill her, he wouldn't have said that the dogs returned with them on. Right?

    Foul play seems unlikely, why would someone who got away with the murder of dian go after hugh when he was baring the brunt of suspicion not just from the Police but also some of the locals.
    Both of these individuals did not seem right, regardless so i suppose you could Put Hughs change of story down to the fact he wasn't so bright, misremembered and over compensated by lying after he was caught.
    I believe he could've ran, i know people seem stumped as to why he would do that after 4 years but that's 4 years of varying degrees of suspicion and these videos dont have the context of how he was treated by those around him nor the weight that had on him. Id probably want to up and leave if my town thought i had brutally murdered my spouse, he probably took on a new name and moved away.
    I wonder what happened to the dogs?
