@@darshvader4096 (ok so I’m gonna say it in English because apparently that’s what you prefer) I was born and raised in the United States but my parents spoke Punjabi with me since the day I started to talk. My parents were very strict on me to learn fluent Punjabi, reading and writing as well. I used to think what’s the point I’m not go live in Punjab. Than one day my father sat me down and said our guru chose the land Punjab and the language Punjabi to bring this amazing religion into this world. Akal purakh could have chosen Mexico or Vietnam or Poland but no akal purakh chose Punjab. We should learn to speak write and read Punjabi fluently because it was language of our gurus, saints, and shaheeds. Us not making an effort to do all that is disrespecting our guru. I had a lot of Jewish friends growing up a lot of them went to summer schools in Israel to learn and be a stronger Jewish. They learned Hebrew they learned the tora. My question is why do the katha in English instead of teaching our kids at home to be stronger in Punjabi. There are many words that can’t be translated in English. Instead of making the norm that ohh it’s ok as long as you go to the gurudwara we got you covered. You can’t speak Punjabi no problem we got a katha vachak who does it in English. Are we Sikhs out of Punjab really that weak that we can’t teach our kids Punjabi? I can go all day on this but you get my point
@Justin-bass With that logic, there shouldn't be parchaar done to people who don't know Punjabi. Which is outrageous. Maybe in your case you were able to develop Punjabi skills. But not everyone is you. If Bhai Jagraj Singh never did katha in English, I wouldn't have been blessed with Sikhi. And I'm sure the same goes for many thousands of other's lives he's changed. Bhai Jagraj Singh inspired me (in english) to pursue Sikhi, and my Punjabi skills improved immensely since then. But why restrict Gursikhi and Gurmat to the Punjabi language?
