    Anyone else use cardboard underneath their monitor stand? 🙋‍♂

      I was worried about damaging the worktop with monitor mount clamp. My friends used cardboard too but I found you can buy monitor mount reinforcement plate on eBay for £13.
      Also you should replace the pads on the Bose headphones for around £5 on eBay easy fix.

    That really nice, but I would recommend to cut the cardboard, or maybe a piece of cloth, to the same size of the stand, that’s only a suggestion, if you don’t really mind it is still a wonderful desk setup

    Among all the setups across the internet, this is the one I've found the most cleverly designed one. Mounting the PC underneath the desk is a genius solution that everyone should consider. I've done something similiar by mounting my PC components on a shelf under my table without an outer case, which provides both good discretion and airflow. Thanks to this video, I feel less like a weirdo about this now.

  • @babie.desk-

    I recommend you look for those steel monitor mount reinforcement plates. It's a pair of metal plates and sandwich the desk under the monitor stand. It's more reliable and great for heavier monitors.

  • @outiawtorn
    @outiawtorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Good job on getting a ton of companies to sponsor a sweet set up. Could have been a bit more subtle than the press release read out for the desk though lol

  • @YusufShurbaji
    @YusufShurbaji 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I have a similar set up. I really like the vibe and de-logoing the mouse was a nice touch. I don't like mats, light bars (cause I only use my comp in daylight), or desk trays but apart from that here are some suggestions to clean things up:
    - cut cardboard or grab a metal plate to replace it.
    - Align power stripe with cable raceway.
    - get a drawer instead of having the desk stand, gives you way more space, keeps it clean looking and avoids need for a pencil tray.
    - I'd recommend turning the computer sideways to avoid hitting it with a knee and gives a slimmer look.
    - mount the computer charger under the tabletop and add black (Velcro like) command strips that are made from plastic. They remove clean and don't pitch up dirt like Velcro but will avoid needing to put your charger on the tabletop. If you need IO on the table then grab a mini io c clamp from AliExpress.

  • @MatthewEncina
    @MatthewEncina 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great setup. That power strip was a good solve. Curious, with the casters on the desk, how wobbly is it?

  • @natep6729

    For the cardboard, you can cut the squared edges to round it up a little and maybe paint it black too just to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I'm sure it bugs you a little everytime you're on the desk😂. A cool, sleek setup otherwise. I love it.

    Thank you for all the ideas! There are at least 3 solutions here that I will be trying to implement myself (love the pen drawer). I unfortunately have multiple computers I need to work with on the same desk, which has presented it's own peripheral related integration problems, but much of what you've presented will definitely assist in wrangling my multi-machine setup.

    • @anthonyafuwape864
      @anthonyafuwape864 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Regarding peripheral issues, I use multiple computers all the time and as a suggestion, you can try the Logitech K780 keyboard and M720 mouse which have buttons for quick switching between 3 computers. You can connect them using Bluetooth or their dongles. I don't have a solution for sound and cameras yet though.

    You don't have it in your list, although you mentioned a power strip in your video. We can see it trailing to the wall socket - I hope it's a surge suppressor model. You have some nice hardware I wouldn't want to leave to chance with Canada's dirty electricity. Great execution! Happy to learn about these side outlets, and never would have thought about suspending the tower. Only thing I am worried about it heat dissipation into the wood. Have you thought of that? Also, the light bar, does it have any use, really?
