Jared being the voice of reason in the beginning is definitely what Shelley (and anyone) in that position needs. Such a calming and understanding but forward facing approach to the situation. I’ve had a few MRIs/CT scans and they’re not enjoyable at all so I feel for you there Shelley! But they’re such important in-depth scans you should be proud of overcoming your anxiety and accepting help from medication definitely isn’t easy to do :)!

I have had a few MRI and I found just closing my eyes before I go in and while in there until I felt comfortable, you haven't got to open your eyes. Jared is such a great support. Your anxious and that's totally normally. If your anxious about meds I wouldn't read up on the medication as they have to put worst case scenario on them and may make you more nervous. I have had that medication and it just made me chilled out X

Like you he needed it and it was the only thing that could show that he needed neck surgery and it allowed them to see the extent of the damage and what the surgery would entail …. I hope they can give you your much needed answers!! Much love to all of you 🥰

I am also very sensitive to medications. I am on several for anxiety, depression etc, I am so scared to take new ones as I have really weird reactions. One thing that helps is to not read the warning or articles online, I know it’s tempting but I find getting someone else to read the side affect warning helps. I try to take the side affects one at at a time if the happen! I hope your ok!

Aubrey, I have had several shih-tzu and shih-tzu mixes in my life plus all my various family members who also have had them so I can say from experience that my shih-tzu's have loved playing in the little baby swimming pools when they would get hot. Train the hair around the eyes and nose to lay away from their eyes and won't cause it to hurt or block their vision. Also, as soon as the hair on the top of their head is long enough start training it into a ponytail which also help to keep it out of the eyes. And NEVER allow anyone to cut or shave off any hair on their tail. Once it is cut it never grows back to what it was before. My original shih-tzu's tail was cut/shaved when she was 3 and when I lost her at 15 her hair length was 3" on one half and 6" on the other half. Comb them daily, work out any matts gently and immediately and be prepared for snorting due to the short, cute nose a shih-tzu has. O, and be aware shih-tzu's have a very strong stubborn streak and may be harder to train. Use small training treats if possible, mine loved it. My Yorkie/shih-tzu cross loves her bath and is very loving to me. A lot of what I said can also be applied to the Yorkie pup Addison has. Good luck girls and great job bathing your fur babies.

I understand being claustrophobic! When I have to have them done, listen to music and also when they are putting you in, focus your eyes above your head (look up) to see the open space behind the machine. Definitely take the meds! Just for perspective as I know when I am talking about, I have had many mri and 35 surgeries during my life. The pups are so cute! Jacob and Max already takes amazing photos, so I can imagine their improvement after the fun classes! Love that Kylie took the class too! Glad Kylie is going for support! Happy you were able to get through it!! Hope you get some answers! The meds likely affected you more because you hadn't eaten before taking them! That food looks AMAZING!! Hope the water leak at Eli and Lacey's is getting fixed and glad you can stay with your parents!

I completely understand how you feel about the MRI. I have claustrophobia so bad and it's rough. I needed one done the other day and was given Valium to relax me. Claustrophobia can come out of nowhere (seemingly). The anxiety of the tablets as well, tells me that you have a fear off losing control. People depend on you, so you want to be fully in control of your faculties. You are allowed to be vulnerable, you are allowed to be afraid; but Jared has your back Shelly, you’ll be okay. Think of what could be wrong, possibly even more scary; best to rule it out, or start treatment for whatever is going on. Your family loves and needs you xx

Hi guys! New subscriber here! I felt SO BAD for Shelly, not only because she was nervous about the MRI, but because of her claustrophobia. I not only have had my fair share of MRI's, but in 1990, I actually had to go in for surgery to have my bladder reconstructed, because it wasn't growing with the rest of my body, I was in the operating room for almost 14 hours! But I'm glad I had the surgery, because it saved my life, I was very sick up until the operation.

Hey crazy middles and welcome new pups! I got my first pup of my own two years ago and I have to say the best decision I ever made was brushing her teeth every night! The vet say her teeth and gums are extremely healthy and I’ve noticed that she doesn’t have the typical dog breath! Definitely something to try with your new pups and see how they do! My dog loves the Nylabone toothpaste and waits in the bathroom for me to brush her teeth every day! Enjoy the puppy snuggles!

Thanks for sharing your MRI story! It’s definitely something that a lot of people fear, and I think it’s because there aren’t too many non-clinical videos about them. I wish there were videos from the patients’ point of view - with the patients’ words - to try to take away some of the mystery.
The machine you get can make all the difference! I’ve lost count of how many brain MRIs I’ve had (all precautionary!), so my head is placed in a cage and then I get slid into the machine. The older ones are the worst! The ones from like 2017 to now are so much better!
I hope your MRI helps your doctors properly diagnose what’s going on so they can get you on a treatment plan to ease that pain ASAP. Best wishes headed your way 🙂

🙏🤗 They can order you meds if you need it before hand. Nothing shameful about having to take them. I've had to take two once a year for 10+ years. It's actually calming for me. I 💯% understand your anxious iness. It's the unknown answers that get me. That's weird that didn't let you wear your wedding ring. I asked a nurse and they said it's actually illegal to ask you to take it off

I am sorry you are having a hard time "hugs" and prayers. I want to share with you how I get my MRI's over all the years. I will sit in my quiet space and watch a sermon and then prayer time. Once I start my imaging I take my mind out of the situation and think of a safe space for me it is gardening or what I can do with the kids once this is over. It is scary taking meds I agree it will make you tired, when it comes to emotionless it is more of a spaciness for me but wears off by the morning. Just know you got this and it's going to help find answers!!!! Go Strong Mama!!!.

The first brain MRI was the hardest because of the unknown but then I realized I was not enclosed in completely and I thought, "I am happy it is me and not my child." Shelly!!! I feel this!!! The only way I manage MRIs is to have them give me a washcloth to put over my eyes. If I accidentally open my eyes, I won’t see how close the MRI machine is to me. The second thing I ask is for them to put a velcro strap around my body so my arms stay up on me… I don’t want gravity to pull my arms down and I accidentally *touch* the machine. Eek! The third thing is I tell them to give me positive affirmation throughout, such as “you are doing so great! We are going to do this xyz next. It might get loud but that’s normal. Great job!” Anyway, this approach has worked for me several times. I might be high maintenance, but whatever- just call me a Princess. 😂 The technicians work with claustrophobic folks all of the time. They have tips and tricks to help you get through this! Mind over matter!

OMG Shelly, I know how you feel! I've had 5 MRI's in the past 2 years. My first one, I felt the same as you, I cried so much! When they told me I had to go for my second one I panicked. My doctor prescribed me some ativan to calm me down, and it made a huge difference. I took half of one to start because I was worried about the side effect, but then I took a full one 15 minutes before going in, it helped me a lot. For the next 3 MRI's I took the ativan. Hope you get well soon,

Shelly, I was diagnosed with IBS last year and to get diagnosed I had to go through a colonoscopy which with already feeling yucky because of my gut issues? Going through the prep so I could even have the procedure made me so anxious and overwhelmed as well. Know it’s not same thing but I pulled through and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The medicine I had to take can make you nauseous but it only happens once briefly. So I get those feelings of having to do something that is uncomfortable to be able to get needed medical answers to know how to move forward. Praying that this MRI will give you some needed answers and so sorry that medications give you so much trouble.

Shelly, I totally feel your pain. I maybe not be claustrophobic but I have anxiety attacks when it comes to needles.. so much to the point I won’t let myself go to the dentist, but I have to so bad so maybe I’ll make an appointment since you faced your fear too ❤️

You got this! I have spent my life in and out of hospital. Many MRIs, CTs. With or without contrast. I know it can be so claustrophobic, I’ve found a comfy eye cover helps. And Ativan. Unfortunately to adult we have to do the hard things. You got this. It’s OK to cry. It’s ok to be sad, it’s ok to stress, but it’s also ok to overcome. You are a superhero to many! ❤️🇨🇦

I feel your pain Shelly. I have never been claustrophobic but recently had to have an MRI and had the same reaction. My dr gave me meds to try again and I also react weird to meds. The whole experience was so scary but you are doing the right thing. You got this!!

OMG!!! I know how you were feeling. I panicked when I had my CT scan, I felt like I was out of control looking up and not able to move. I told them that I can't continue, but I calmed down when I closed my eyes. Not having to look at anything helped me so much.

I have back issues and have to go in for semi frequent MRIs. Last year I started getting claustrophobic so I thought going into the “open” MRI would be better. It wasn’t I still freaked out. Next MRI will have to be done under medication. I feel for you lady. You’re not alone.❤️

Great job Shelly! I've had several and totally understand. Hope they can help you. I have a similar symptom that I thought was a undertreated UTI but the doctor says it's just a food intolerance. :(

Hey shelly, watching this and seeing you cry made me cry as well please know you are not the only one who suffers from claustrophobia. I have the same exact thing happened during an MRI and also needed to be medicated. I Want you to know I don't know how you feel but I understand. Just thought it might make you feel better to here yet another person has gone through the same thing. #bigfan #loveyourfamily ❤️
    Sending love from California 💛
