I agree! Learning is hard for me due to my age of 76. I keep reviewing the lessons. I can now read and understand some spoken words. Can not speak it, but I will keep trying.
I have learned more from this excellent teacher than a year of Duolingo!!! He simplifies with grafts, gives reasons why we use a certain word over another. I can say enough good things about this teacher!!!
I love these videos and I like how you get to the point of teaching Spanish. You made everything so clear an fun to teach that I had to pick up and focus on Spanish, yes I got very determined lately. I originally know you from the AIB while back until later on I got recommendations from these videos. My goal is to become multilingual someday (other languages - French, Esperanto, Danish, Arabic, Hawaiian, Chinese, and Japanese) and I will recommend your channel to everyone else that is eager to learn. You keep up the good work and don't stop uploading new videos😊😊😊
Even the minute explanation of the personal ‘a’ during exemplification of conocer is what differentiates this guy from other teachers. Love all your concept boiler lessons. Great teacher.
I find your videos so helpful, you explain everything in detail but in a simple way that has really helped me improve my Spanish. You are the best teacher by far!
Your lessons are amazing! I am taking Spanish classes through a local college but I always use your videos to help. Your explanations are very succinct and easy to understand. My grades and understanding have improved immensely since finding your videos. Thank you :)
i want to say thank you so much, while in spanish class i feel as if my teacher speeds through the lesson and i have a hard time keeping up and understanding anything but this video has helped me so much i understand everything and im excited to watch more of your videos! thank you!!
Gracis professor! Please keep uploading as I am in Spanish 2 working out of the punto book! This week we are working on Chapter 8! I showed my professor your channel! He's impressed!
@@TheLanguageTutor 🤦🏾♀️ Very challenging because last week he went over Indirect pronouns ( to whom) or for who) after a verb. This week he's going over Preterite of more types of verbs using direct and indirect object pronouns in the same sentence. 2 more chapters to go
Have been studying with you for a couple of months and still you're able to impress me with every lesson I take. Pleased to discover your videos and really optimistic about my progress when I fully finish your beginner course. Trying to comment on current videos I am on, so when I am checking for the second time I would see my progress . Thank boss
Excellent explanations as always. Brief, concise and clear. I'm wondering, there are two ways to know someone, the first is as an acquaintance who you recognize and say Hola to (saber?). The second is where you know someone extremely well; their hopes, fears, family history, relationships etc. (conocer?) please advise.
So I have a question about the last two examples he used. The one with Luz is answered: Person > Knows > Well > Thing, but the last example it's answered: Person > Knows > Thing > Very well. How come the noun and adjective change places? Could you also say: 'Luz conoce la literatura española bien'?
hello, i didn't understand the first example. ''su'' meaning his/her in that sentence. but why don't we use 'le' and I couldn't find a video about it if there is, could you please share the link? thanks a lot btw you helped me a lot for learning Spanish tho:))
I like the video overall except for one thing. You said for 3 syllable words we stress the middle syllable. No we don't. We follow accenting rules which are pretty simple. If a word ends in a vowel, or the consonants s or n, we stress the second to last syllable. If the word ends in any consonant other than s or n then we stress the final syllable. Three syllable examples of final syllable stress: conductor, obrador, cicatriz, libertad, ciudad, caravel. I am still going to use this video for a Spanish class for my substitute to present while I am at home sick. I will just have to correct students on the stress rules when I come back.
Thank you so much. I am still struggling because I have struggles with what verb to use when asking questions. I seem to forget. Are there any more practice tools that you have that we can subscribe to her purchase? Thank you
But what if you know about Paris like you know what it is but you didn’t intend for it to be in deeper knowledge would u still use the verb conocer? Or what if u didn’t know juan in a deeper meaning you just knew of him?
Thank you again for these videos! A couple of questions though: 1) Can we say "Luz conoce la literatura española bien" the same way we did with "Ella conoce Paris muy bien"? 2) Why didn't we put "a" before Paris when we said "Ella conoce Paris muy bien" like in "Yo conozco a Juan"?
1) Yes 2) The answer for this is complicated. In Spanish there is an exception with preposition "a" and direct and indirect objects. The general rule is: "a" when it is indirect object and no preposition when it is a direct object. The exception is that we add an "a" also when the direct object is a person, so it is "Conoce París", "Conozco la cocina tradicional china", etc. But "¿Conocen a Carmen?" "Conocemos a tu hermano", etc. This "anomaly" causes some confusion among some native speakers (myself included) when choosing the right pronouns (DO: lo, la; IO: le). I hope this helps
Thank you very much🤗 I wanna ask something. İn Turkish when we want to ask someone whether she/he speaks a language, we dont use speak we use know ( e.g Do you know English?). Can it be used in Spanish as well "¿Sabes inglés?
Yes, you can use the verb "saber" instead of "hablar", although "saber inglés" could be interpreted as not being totally fluent, whilst "hablar inglés" would imply that you arer totally fluent or you have at least a high level of English.
First off, I have been binge watching these lessons, thank you Dr. Evans for this content. Watching your videos has helped me greatly in learning Spanish. I did have a quick question though - I noticed in the example for Saber, the last sentence, El sabe tocar la guitarra, there is no accent mark above the E in El to know that it's "he." I was curious to know why this is the case. Is this one of your "rule breakers" that you talk about? I know context matters in Spanish and "the" wouldn't really make sense of course, but I'm still curious to know if there's a specific reason the accent mark is left off. Thanks again for your help, you've been a tremendous resource!
Why do you have to put an "a" in front of someone's name sometimes? I don't understand this. I also don't understand how to use interesa and interesan. Do you have a video on this? You are a wonderful teacher.
Could saber and concer both be correct but signifying different things? For example, if someone knows about Paris, but is not an expert on it, would saber be correct?
I am confused about the placement of the word bien in the last two examples. Why is it before the noun in the first example and after the noun in the second example? Muchas gracias :)
So if I wanted to say "I know how to say it in spanish" would it be translated as " Se' hablarlo en E'spanol?" Sorry I have a short keyboard so I cant make created the letters with accent marks.

Muchisimas gracias amigo!
Actually, the correct sentence would be: "¡No conozco a Danny Evans muy bien, pero él me gusta!" (without preposition "a")
@@marionardechia1579 why was " él " used for "him"?
ah some lightbulb hit me. It literally translates to "he pleases me." How would you know if él me gusta means I like him or he likes me?

You don't have to write the accent mark if the letter is capitalized. This is accepted by the RAE.
