This is quite a depressing song if someone actually comprehend the lyrics. It is about *suicide*. Breakdown of the song: 1. Stranded in the open = the person/singer is depressed, albeit, she is ostensibly free to roam around but she is still in the shackles from the inside 2. Dried out tears of sorrow= the singer cried so much that there are no tears left to cry 3. Lacking all emotions = the sorrow & depression drained all the emotions out of her 4. Staring down the barrel = the singer is staring at the barrel of the gun 5. Waiting for the final gates to open to a new tomorrow = waiting for the gun's trigger to open it chamber OR waiting for the gates of heaven to open where the singer can transcend to new dimension/world 6. Moving with the motion following the light that sets me free= singer's body moves in the direction of bullet and follows the spark (light) of the gun shot and sets the singer's body free from this materialistic world
Wow, this really put this already great song in a far greater perspective for me now, really quite beautiful. I really hope my uncle's in as great a place after pulling the trigger, he was one of the greatest souls I've ever known, even though he was taken for everything he was worth by his "wife". One of those people that was willing to give himself completely just to make his chosen person happy, and he was rewarded with absolute suffering, please never look back and move on from this materialistic plane.
