This song hits hard for me. I was that drug addict throughout the 80s and early 90s. The birth of my daughter saved my life. I’m lucky enough to be the father of three beautiful daughters and I have 5 grandchildren. Songs like this reminds me of who I was. Great reaction to an underrated band ✌️🤙
Oh my, i was there with you in the 80’s and some of the 90’s drugging out. I’m embarrassed of some of my actions from back then even. But I too finally found freedom from that ball and chain. I have three wonderful boys all grown men now. With one grand daughter. Life is good. ❤️💜💚
This was a radio edit. The last bit, just before the big guitar solo was "Don't you push drugs in my face Or I'm gonna put you in your place Fuck you I don't want it no more!"
Candlebox didn't get the Seattle love like most of the bands that came from that area in the 90s. Way too many people slept on them and it's a damn shame.
Courtney Love shit all over them in an interview in Rolling Stone, accusing them of being usurpers that moved up from California just because their manager's office address was included for booking information in their debut album. In reality, they'd lived in WA for more than a decade.
Very true. Plus the world was in shock from the passing of Kurt, Layne basically became a hermit. All the attention was put into those events. I was 7 at the time, and I didn't get the lyrics, but I fell in love with candldbox after hearing Far behind. Your probably older than me. For me you is their greatest song, far behind his 2nd, let me know what you think, and if Im wrong. About something
I am 48 years old. Every time I see a black person discover the music they should have been privy to years ago, my heart goes out to you! Nothing but love! And this song was about leaving the drug life behind. This song helped me through some dark times. Holding and forced to deal and smoke that shit. Thank God.
My uncle used to promote for Candlebox when he worked for Maverick. That's how i found out about them as a teenager in the 90's. One of my favorite bands.
@@Skeezer66 No, that was Courtney who wrecked their cred and was part of the reason Madonna couldn't stand her. Their album jacket included contact info for booking information and listed the address of their manager's office in LA, so in an interview with Rolling Stone, Courtney accused them of being usurpers who moved up from California to hitch onto a zeitgeist they had no right to. They come to south Florida at the end of every February, they actually sit in the bar next to the venue and socialize and party with their fans. Class act, dynamite in concert. They still tour, you have to check out a show.
I saw them here in Milwaukee 3 years ago. They invited a fan on stage to sing a song. The lead singer ended up sitting out the next like 3 songs and drank whiskey while the fan sang lol
I remember when this album was released, so many grunge fans and music critics called them "The Journey of Grunge," like that was a bad thing, and they were given crap for being on the record label Madonna created. At the end of the day, they put out some killer songs that still hold up. Thanks for sharing them with your viewers! ~Be Blessed
Every other label rejected them and I still will never understand that! They're a good SOLID band. Madonna's label was new and she needed bands, She made a crapload of money from candlebox. Sometimes i don't understand labels, Those guys were FRIENDS with all of the other Seattle bands.
Honestly if I had to pick between Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Candlebox as the only grunge/Seattle band I could ever listen to again, Candlebox has my vote all day long (although I like the other two tremendously). I actually think they were more musically talented too. The only one I'd put them underneath is Alice in Chains.
great comment!! as i was reading The Journey of Grunge .. i thought ya thats a cool way to look at them lol anyways i dont really care for a lot of grunge.. but i Love Journey! lol i also Love Candlebox!
Candlebox didn’t have quite the longevity of many other 90s bands but they definitely had some real solid tunes. This being one of them. Having lost my brother to drugs i can definitely relate to their messages.
I’m really sorry for your loss. Nothings worse then watching a loved one slip away like that knowing if they’d just get sober they’d have a shot at life. I hope you find (or found) some peace. 💜💜💜
Not sure why you say they didn't have longevity. They're still playing and putting out records. Last one was released in 2016 and have one coming out in September this year. They unfortunately didn't get much airplay after their first CD. They've outlasted Nirvana, STP, Soundgarden, I can't think of many other grunge/alternative bands from their era that are still around: AIC, Pearl Jam, 3EB?
Saw them a year 1/2 ago and they were awesome. Radio sleeps on a lot of good bands and good music. In my opinion Volbeat has been the best band in the last 20 years and the first four albums got no radio play in the US. Most people still don’t know who they are. Sorry for your loss!
Candlebox has always been one of my faves that came out of the grunge era. They sound just as great live. Cover Me is another great one. Thanks for discovering them! Much love!

Thanks so much for for reacting to this specific song. Not many people in my country have even heard of this band. I was completely lost and angry in my late teens and this song and Weak by Skunk Anansie got me through a very dark time in 2000. They would have been so much bigger had they came out at the same time as AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Nirvana. It think maybe people thought these guys were just trying to rip off the Grunge sound so they didn't get the respect they deserved. I loved them the moment I heard them.
I saw them in 2017 at the sls which is the Sahara now, they played at the pool for komp radio stations in Vegas for the end of summer kegger party . This was the last song and at the end the singer was leaving and I got a high five as I was at the base of the stairs of the stage. Very cool band!
Saw them in Houston in the early '90s. The Flaming Lips opened. Ended up that we were in the same hotel and got to meet them both the next morning. Freaking epic!❤
If you have some time you should check out the performances they recorded for recoveryunplugged doing versions of you and far behind. They go into the background of both songs before doing kickass acoustic versions of then
Such an amazing, passionate song that is one of the best of the Grunge era. It has a surprisingly funky, off-kilter rhythm pattern. I've always loved this song. They would have been so much bigger had they came out at the same time as AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Nirvana. It think maybe people thought these guys were just trying to rip off the Grunge sound so they didn't get the respect they deserved. I loved them the moment I heard them.
Was hoping you would be playing this song 😃🤘
Candlebox opened for RUSH on the Roll the Bones tour. I saw them at the Centrum at Worcester. Never heard a song by them. They put on a great show.
Omg I'm so glad to see you react to this. This is my era. I love this music. Thank you ❤
YES. More Candlebox Please. Vulgar Before me and Rain, Please
I saw them in 2017 at the sls which is the Sahara now, they played at the pool for komp radio stations in Vegas for the end of summer kegger party . This was the last song and at the end the singer was leaving and I got a high five as I was at the base of the stairs of the stage. Very cool band!
Yes, thank you!!! I think I was one of the requesters!!! Seattle grunge!
This was a great album my top two favs from this time and genre were this album and live throwing copper
Yes!! Mine too. Throwing Copper 👌🏼👌🏼
Keeping great music alive is a worthy cause.
Saw them in Houston in the early '90s. The Flaming Lips opened. Ended up that we were in the same hotel and got to meet them both the next morning. Freaking epic!❤
If you have some time you should check out the performances they recorded for recoveryunplugged doing versions of you and far behind. They go into the background of both songs before doing kickass acoustic versions of then
Their drummer is downright awesome!!!
I love this song. And Candle box are still together and tour if you want to go see them.
Such an amazing, passionate song that is one of the best of the Grunge era. It has a surprisingly funky, off-kilter rhythm pattern. I've always loved this song. I never really cared for "Far Behind," but I will definitely ask you to react to the last hit they had, "Simple Lessons." That's another great one by Candlebox.
