I've used a Cricut for several years now and simply find it to be invaluable! It is so nice to see someone combine Cricut techniques with other card making techniques. Long past due!
So glad you are showing how to use these to make some cards easier. Especially those of us with awful handwriting. Keep up videos for this please. I would love to see your unique ways of using it.
WONDERFUL combining Cricut Joy extra with card making ideas! Could you make more videos using the Cricut Joy extra with inks! That was so good to see how you used the loft over cup cake after the card was cut. You used it to make a whole new card! Bravo!!! More videos PLEASE!
I love all my cricut machines! Looking forward to more videos integrating the cricut with card making! I use mine for sentiments, addressing my envelopes, and loads more.
So far, the best card making video that I have seen. Love the duel use of what would normally have been scrapped. Love your presentation too. I will be watching more. Loved both cards, but I think the second one was my favourite because of the depth, dimension and colouring. I appreciate your colouring technique as well.
Great video. Thank you for showing how easy it can be to use the Cricut Joy along with traditional card making items like the hand made card and stamps. I have a ton of stamps, dies but also have Cricut Maker and original Joy. Keep these ideas coming. So much can be ceated with both styles of creating.
Hi Simon! Usually I use my Cricut for vinyl and to cut letters or a sentiment, or intricate backgrounds and shapes for my cards, because for cards I prefer my inks and and die cuts, I really don't like to cut and just put a sheet of paper as a background for a card. You just show me that I can still use those cricut cards that I don't like in a different way. I like SVGs, I can even create my own very simple ones. but I also like die cutting, inks and stamps a lot. You are giving me inspiration to put both ways together, so Thank you very much! :)
Yes yes yes! I wholeheartedly agree on everything you said. I think for my main cardmaking I will stick to stamps, but this is fun for something a bit different. It's cool to mix it along with your supplies to create something completely new. :)
I’ve been thinking about getting a Joy Xtra, although I already have a Scan n Cut. You’ve got me thinking more about ‘yes, I would use this new machine.’
I own a cricut joy for over 2 years & was intimidated to use it. But in the past couple months I got up the nerve to incorporate it to my card making. Especially for writing & I love it! Feeling less intimidated I went ahead & ordered the xtra for the print & cut option.
I love how easy you explain how you do your cards. Very simple and looks fun. Using the stencil looks easy as well. Im excited to begin using my new things I got. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have had a cricut joy for a year and never had it out of the box, seeing you use yours has made me want to have a go. Thank you, and please use it again 🎉
Get it out and try it. I was the same way, except for doing a couple of their sample projects. Now I'm a fan. But then they brought out the Cricut Xtra that can do stickers and offers a bigger format. But now, after looking over the other bigger machines, when I do move up, I may just get a Maker. For one, because I like making cards, with the bigger machines, there is a card mat that you can load 4 cards at a time. I think that might be a great feature for me. Plus the bigger machines are faster. For now, I'm ok with the Joy...and it can do a lot!
I'm so excited to see you do some Cricut projects. I'm a long time Cricut user, but I haven't tried the card mat yet. Funny story. When I use my Cricut to cut, my cat is FASCINATED by the noises the machine makes. I have to stay right with it, otherwise she gets on the mat while it's moving!!
Thanks, Simon. Just ordered a Cricut Joy Xtra and this video makes me excited to try it. I'm an idiot when it comes to design, but this seems doable, even for me.
That was great! You had a lot of great ideas for combining card making with the Cricut machine! That's really cool that the Xtra tells you to move the star wheels over and then back again. I wish all the machines that have them did that. I wish they would have come out with the Joy Xtra a couple years ago before I bought the Joy. I would have purchased it the Xtra instead. Now I also have a Maker, so I don't see the need for the Xtra too. I love the Joy for making cards, small projects and things I want to do quickly. Just today I used it to make some tag blanks after being inspired by a Cathy Z video.
Very neat to see you use the Cricut Joy Xtra. While I don't have any Cricut machines, I do enjoy seeing crafters projects and how they like to use it. I also LOVE that you had a 2-4-1 by using the cupcake cutout pieces.
WoooHooo welcome to the world of Cricut Simon. Your going to need a bigger craft room! Hahahahhahahha :) Ty for sharing this. A lot of people do not know all the things you can do with one of these machines.
This is the first video I have watched from you, Simon. I LOVED it! Your ideas of all of different ways I can get creative with my card making are very inspirational. Thanks for making such a fun, clearly easy to understand video. I can't wait to view some of your other videos to see what else you are up to!
Dude, I'm so excited you did this video! I just got the regular Joy and still learning how to use it so this was really informative. Of course you had to jazz it up, lol. Great ideas. Please do more. ❤
Super cool cards! You're a great educator. I'm still concerned about the technology of the Cricut, but I hope with your videos, I may get comfortable and see the benefits of owning one myself. I love the card with the Lunar paste, such a beautiful color & stencil. Thanks!
Nice to see you using the Cricut. I have the Maker and original Joy and love the options to use instead of or as well as stamps and metal dies. Looking forward to seeing your uses for this machine as I’m sure you’ll think of things outside the box. I love incorporating all my tools together.
To write my sentiments on my cards, I use the card mat and then once the sentiment is written fold the card the other way around and then cut the design out. Just make sure the sentiment is the right way up and aligned correctly.
Hey Simon! Loved your video, my 11 year old granddaughter & I are getting the Cricut Joy Xtra for Christmas. We’ve been crafting together since she was about 2! My question: I was impressed with your liquid glue gun. Where did you get it, which one do you like & what glue do you use? I’m excited to get started! Thanks!
you can write you inside by using the card mat, just make sure that you fold the card with the inside resting on the top of the mat your design will be under the top layer...you can use a card templet that way you can get a visual idea on the size and placement of your greeting
I like the cupcake card you made with the leftovers after the cricut version. Just wondering where you get the glue contraption and what it's called that you used to apply your wet adhesive. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been trying so hard how to figure out how to do this. Guess I need a card holder. Can you do one on a work around for scoring with the CJ xtra? I’m sure there is one, so I’m digging everywhere to see if anyone has figured it out.
I loved all the cards, but especially loved the stencil card with the lunar paste! What liquid glue gun do you use and what brand of glue? I don't see a specific link to those in your links. I've always used my old original Cricut and my Maker but just got a Joy Xtra for cards so I'm excited to make some like yours. Thanks!
Hi, we have this machine at home. so im guessing i could use this to make stencils for spraying small details/fonts into plastic parts? Thanks from the U.K 👍🏼
I bought myself a Cricut Joy last year for Christmas. It’s not the xtra, but I love this machine! I have it out all the time. I didn’t realize that you were from Wisconsin. On Wisconsin!
Excellent demo, Simon! I scrolled through the comments… didn’t see this question. Do you (or someone in comments) know if the Scan n Cut does everything this new Cricut Joy does? I have yet to try my SNC. (Aug b’day gift! 😳) l really like all the features you demo’d & the size, plus being able to use an iPad for designing is icing on the cake! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏼🙏🏻💖
I have been using my Cricut for years - I do a lot of creating from scratch and find I use my dies less and less - I know you don’t get the rounded edges that dies give, Cricut is flat, but I use some hand held ball tools to give shape
I’ve watched some other videos and I am ambivalent about that machine. Please keep making videos about it. You explained great some of the features and uses. Thank you
20:13 On your videos you've mentioned several times you like the 3m tape. I need to order some foam tape and would like to check it out. Which one have you found most useful? Thanks.
Awesome cards. Definitely on my thinking on it list lol. I recently gave away my big cricut... older version that doesn't do print n cut. This one is tempting 🤔
It's really not. Bethadilly and many others on YT (I just happen to like her a lot)have a lot of beginner Cricut Joy & now JoyXtra tutorials on their channel. I have a feeling though, Simone's gonna come up with some really cool 😎 projects using the JoyXtra!

I love how you went beyond just cutting your card with the Joy-Xtra - shows your creativity
Thank you!!
So glad you are showing how to use these to make some cards easier. Especially those of us with awful handwriting. Keep up videos for this please. I would love to see your unique ways of using it.
Yes! Handwriting is a big thing for me. This is going to save me from having to restart my handwritten note a million times lol!
I started my card making process with Cricut and then moved onto stamping. So fun to see you do this! The possibilities are endless 🎉

Agree! I love all of the options you have when you mix the Cricut with everything we already have. :)
Oh Simon this is wonderful that you are now using the Cricut your digital downloads will be perfect to cut out 👏🥂
Thx for the review!! I've been a Cricut user for many years & I love seeing what other crafters/card makers create! My favorite is your version!❤
Thanks!!
You took that to another level. Simple wonderful, now I'll be using my Xtra for card making thank you Simon

Too technical for me but nice to see you showing people how.💖
Does the card mat work with a regular Cricut or just the Cricut Joy Xtra?

Yay! I hope you enjoyed it. Happy Thanksgiving!! :)
Thanks Simon I enjoyed your video and I really liked the second card the best.
I’ve watched some other videos and I am ambivalent about that machine. Please keep making videos about it. You explained great some of the features and uses. Thank you
Simon, can you tell me more about the liquid glue gun is the glue gun, a hot glue gun or is it regular glue gun.
Lynn Le Bel Thanks Simon a couple really Nice cards!!
Can't afford a Maker. Cricut newbie.
Wondering if to get the xtra or regular joy😅
Does the bigger cricut have a card mat too?
20:13 On your videos you've mentioned several times you like the 3m tape. I need to order some foam tape and would like to check it out. Which one have you found most useful? Thanks.
Hi Kristin! Here is a link to my fave big roll of 3M foam tape: amzn.to/3QVp2zN (affiliate)
Where did you get the blending brushes from? I’ve been buying some cheap Amazon ones as I don’t seem to get on with the ranger blending tool
You can find the blending brushes here: ldli.co/e/zr0zjxp and here is the container I use to store them: amzn.to/3Lh19AQ
Could you have used transparent tape to remove the cupcake (that you colored) and then tape it on the white card?
Lovely!!!!
Awesome cards. Definitely on my thinking on it list lol. I recently gave away my big cricut... older version that doesn't do print n cut. This one is tempting 🤔

Awesome
REALLY NICE!!!
Can I do a 4 in x 6 in card using this machine?

These are the fiskars spring assist scissors. You can find them in the more supplies section of the description box. :)
