I've been using the new OnePlus Watch 2 smartwatch for four days and as soon as I unboxed it I was surprised by its sleek design, but I discovered a few things that turn out to be a deal breaker and I reveal the truth about the dual architecture design and other false information circling around by other "reviewers".

Also my 1000 step count test resulted in about 100 more steps on the OnePlus Watch 2.
Clarification for 12:00: A better statement would've been "they could've used a native dual architecture W5+ instead of the W5"
Hope you guys enjoyed the video!

I don't see the point of this statement. Why would they choose to downgrade from the BE2700 to the W5+ dual architecture? Literally, the only difference between the Snapdragon W5 and the W5+ is that the Plus version also has a dedicated secondary ultra-low power processor for battery saving purposes. However, Oneplus has opted to implement its own ultra-low power processor (BE7200) instead, which is much better optimised than what we've seen so far in smartwatches with the W5+. Besides, the BE2700 is a much more powerful co-processor than the one present in the W5+. In any case, the W5 platform is much faster then the Exynos implemented in the Galaxy wearables for instance.
Also, how can W5 be an OLD SoC when it was announced and released at the exact same day as the W+?? They are both literally the same SoC.

The weight of the watch is not a negative. Watches should have weight. The fact that the crown doesn't rotate is not a negative, it is clearly not supposed to. The stainless steel body and sapphire glass means it will be durable. I have the OnePlus Watch 2 now and I can genuinely say I am impressed with it. Coming from the Pixel Watch 2, which is my only smartwatch I've ever owned, OnePlus Watch 2 crushes it. In just a 6 months of ownership, the screen on my Pixel Watch 2 has taken damage. 20-30% of the time the Pixel Watch 2 cannot make it a full 24 hours between charges, meaning when I go to bed, then wake up, it is dead. The One Plus Watch 2 lasts at least 3 days. As someone who just tracks their steps and sleep, this watch does a great job. My only negative is that all my Fitbit tracking data from my Pixel Watch 2 cannot be moved. I look forward to the future with this watch. I'm sure further software updates will only make it better.

You only use it for steps and sleep and it's inaccurate at both and sleep doesn't even keep a log of previous sleep patterns to reference yet you're sitting there saying it's so impressive when it fails at the only 2 things you want it for.

@@RedceLL1978 it does keep track of sleep in OHeath app and my steps seem reasonably in line with my Pixel Watch 2

@@RedceLL1978no the sleep tracking is actually really accurate. The watch has a setting to go into sleep mode when it detects you sleeping and it actually did it right everytime I fell asleep it registered it. First I noticed when you sleep your heart rate drops to like 50 so that's how it detects it. But later I had a high fever for 3 days and the watch still detected sleep even tho my heart rate didn't go below 72. It even showed the fact that during the fever I could not get any deep sleep at all just normal or light sleep which was highly accurate for the night it showed that. So the sleep tracking is actually really good you don't need to worry about that. The steps, sleep and blood oxygen are fairly accurate as even that went down by a few percent during my fever. People love to hate new products but one thing I will say it the build of this watch is amazing. You just look at it even with the screen off and go "DAMN that's a nice watch."
If you are still unsure that's fine but I just wanted to clear up some of these tech geeks keep they're expectations to the maximum and have a bias just because they have played with the best tech including tech priced in the thousands.

Of course OnePlus used Oppo's architecture, that's hardly a new take. They're basically the same company... OnePlus is just focused on the Western, and Oppo on the Chinese market.

Wearing my "Radiant Steel" OnePlus Watch 2.0 on my right wrist right now and the 2021 OnePlus Watch on my left wrist. Nice review. I am still shocked about the digital dial that is not a digital dial and just a button - was a MISSED opportunity. Yes, it is a smooth navigation of WearOS 4.0. The two processors are just fun to use too...

Can that whatch display stay on? Like the apple watch and Galaxy 6? I see reviewers constantly twisting their wrist to wake up the thing, but I can't do that everytime I want to look the display. On my Galaxy, stays on (*dimmed) and at least I can see the time at a glance, not fully looking at the display.

Whilst I mostly love this watch, the biggest problem I’ve encountered is the ‘Sleep’ mode (ie turns off raise to wake, notifications & calls) and the DND are both manually activated. There’s no schedule option so you can automate the on and off times. Inevitably I’m going to forget to manually turn them on or off and it will have consequences.

Have you tried to "answer calls on phone" via the watch when you have a bluetooth device connected to the phone itself rather than the watch ? I cant get that to work, it disconnects any bluetooth device and directs the call to the phones internal speaker/mic.. that means that I cant use my regular bluetooth devices that are far better than the buds, or use the Google AAOS handsfree in the car. This according to me is a real dealbreaker

    • @RyansTechMedia
      @RyansTechMedia  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

Since you must be connected to you phone for calls, instead of connecting any headphones to the watch connect them directly to your phone (if I understood your problem right). Otherwise if you meant that you cannot use your watch directly, go to the phone's Bluetooth and choose your watch and tap settings for it. Then I think there should be a "Calls" switch that needs to be on for you to be able to directly answer on your watch.

@@RyansTechMedia my problem is the oher way around. I have the car and hearing aids connected to the phone. If I choose "answer on phone" on the watch any device connected for any audio/call is disconnected and only the phones internal audio (mic/speaker) is activated.

I watched many reviews for OnePlus Watch 2 on youtube. Nobody says what phone they use for pairing. Because there are differences between OnePlus phone and Samsung phone for example. Nobody noticed that you can't schedule DND or Sleep Mode. Or that you can't sync phone functions if you do not pair the watch with an OnePlus Phone!

Seriously, when I saw the rave headlines of all videos regarding the battery 🔋 life of this smartwatch I was expecting 4-5 days in full smart mode with AOD, but no, it's no better than a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro or TicWatch Pro 5 and even the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 47mm, no rotating bezel (and yet, there is no lack of borders on this OnePlus Watch 2, they are more than abundant 🤧) or crown, no fall detection, no ECG...
